2.4 N/A vs 3800 monte

2.4 couldnt keep up...which is sort of surprising since i have a 3500 lb car (full of myself and electrician tools and a full tank) vs a 3000 lb car (a passenger - heavy one too)

******* 108 mph limiter SUCKS

im totally stock BTW

we were just toying around - i saw the "SS" badges so i thought "**** i have to" - went next to him and nailed it...slowed down cause he couldnt keep up - then he blew by and i caught him (while he was still WOT)

you have a 1998 monte, thats a high 15 second car when NEW, so either the 2.4 was auto, which still woulda made it a fairly even race or it was a 5 speed with a not so good driver.

If it had SS badges and he didn't get totally stomped, it was clearly a 2.4. He'd have known pretty damn quick if he was up against either 2.0L SS.

I've never had the pleasure of witnessing that, but I'm sure it's not all that hard to pick those out as fakes.

hmmm, I have a 2.4L and I was beating a new style Monte Carlo SS (non-S/C) all day at the track a couple weeks ago. I was running 15.7-15.9 and he was running 15.9-16.3

It could've been an 09 2.2L LT with the sport appearence package. Looks exactly like the 2.4L's no way of telling unless you look under the hood.

Not hard for them to slap on a SS badge though. Even a 2.2L manual should be able to keep up with the Monte though, this result could have been an auto 2.2L...

well you made it sound like this car didnt keep up at all so this is why were guessing thats what it is lol. A 2.2 5 speed should be a dead even match for ur monte

lol no way dude...a 2.4 yes but definitely not a 2.2 (maybe with some bolt ons)

and the car did make a struggle plus it was all highway speeds (so maybe cobalts fall flat at high speeds? idk)
