2.4 SS sedan VS. Civic SI sedan

I could not have picked a better race if I tried! This morning I was on my way to VA to meet up with CobaltBurst to get his stock 2.0 injectors and I see a Civic sedan and think heeeeey check him out! Then I see the SI and I think WOW someone else with a sport sedan! I pass him he gets behind me and starts riding my bumper so close I can't even see his hood! WTF! So I did what anyone would do in this sitch....BRAKE CHECK! Boy did his eyes get BIG! I turned on the BW parkway and so did he, I floored it and so did he.
It was on! I stayed in the middle lane and he darted to the left lane and tried to pass me but he just didn't have enough to do it. He got about to my rear door and stopped pulling but mine didn't! I kept in it till he was at my rear bumper and his lane ended he ducked in behind me but no more riding my bumper! This continued all the way to the Capital Beltway, him trying to get around me and running out of gas! The furthest he got was his first try and he ran out of ompf by my rear door but he kept trying, gotta give him an E for Effort! Anyway I get in the right lane to exit and he pulls along side gives a thumbs up and mouthed "Thats fast" at me, I returned the thumbs up and said "yours too" We waived and I went on the off ramp.

For more then 20 minutes he tried to get around me and it seemed like his car would start to pull like crazy but then stopped and he'd fall back. Why did this happen I could not tell you but I stayed ahead of him ans ulitmatly took the win!

So far that makes....
Cobalt SS sedan...4
Honda Civic SI.....0

BTW, its an A for Effort. LOL.

Good Kill. I like the SS Sedans, the autos in them arnt bad either (I have a 2.4 SS Sedan Auto).

...but if he rode my ass like that, and then gave the thumbs up and mouthed the "Thats Fast"....i probably woulda gave him a thumbs up, and mouthed "Yours sucks"...with a smile on my face.

I raced an Si coupe today at Great Lakes Dragaway. He had an exhaust, brand I do not know, and an AEM CAI. We raced once. I ran a 14.624@98.29, not my best run but the best of the day. He ran a 14.659@100.21. Pretty close. Now mind you, these are the mods that I know of because I could see the exhaust and the CAI when I walked past his car with his hood open. I never talked to him though.

BTW nice kill!

This stuff is good to hear. There's someone I know that feels his stock Si coupe can take my car easily and be a match for the ss/sc. All I said was "We'll see"

Ya I don't think anybody is really debating the ss/sc>>Si anymore it all seems to be SI>>2.4 debate now

Sorry guys had to work! Mods include the GMPP intake and manifold and a set of Sportlines, tho I doubt they made me any faster just better looking I could have been a sore winner about the whole deal since he started it but I figured since I finished it with the win thats all that mattered. And yes it is a looooong strech of road and nope no radar just a veeery watchful eye! That and the cops won't try to come after you from a dead stop at speeds over 100 cause it takes them at least 20 miles to catch you and by them time Heeeeello off ramp!

Thanks all and yeah the SI vs SS/SC arguement is about dead you guys MURDER THEM! But now it us 2.4 guys turn at bat so make sure you keep showing the support for the home team!

I wouldn't call it murder. Did you read post #9? If I would have had a so so reaction time like his, my 1 and 1/2 car length victory would have been closer. CAI and exhaust is what he had. With these mods, I believe you 2.4 SS guys would have more than a handfull.

I 've run into 3 Sis all coupes. The first two I raced each from a slow roll (1st and second gears) I got in front and never gave it up. They were each at my quarter panel or rear bumper to top of 4th gear. They looked an dsounded pretty much stock.

The last one I raced from a mid second gear roll and he handed me my lunch. Stomped a big mud hole in my ego.

He said he had I/H/E and Hondata flash. Dynoed well over 200hp to the wheels. For an NA car, they can get real fast for just a little dough and as the speeds get higher, they pull harder and harder.

I was refering to the majority of the races we've heard of in hear where a SS/SC in stock trim goes up against an SI in stock trim and it looks like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. You simply found one that was modded and had a stage 3 driver mod to boot.

Modded these SI guys should take a stock 2.4 no problems. Just like modded we should be able to return the favor in kind.

Not knocking the SI's just letting you know they CAN be beaten by a 2.4 with very basic stuff done.
