so me and my buddy are headin out to a bar with a bunch of our friends. this prelude come flying up next to me and starts to rev his engine next to me. i look over and see him and what looked like his gf in his prelude. from the noise comin from his car im perrty shore he had just exhaust done to it. at the time i only had a new air intake... so were both next to each other doing about 50mph and i hear him downshift. he gets about a half a car ahead before i decide to smack 4th gear... once laid it to the floor i just walked away from him like he was a baby.... when i got about 5 cars ahead i slowed back down just for him fly past me as if he still wants to race. so i downshift back into 4th again and just walked right passed him... when i slowed down again and looked over at him.. his gf was smiling at me and he looked pissed off...haha

moral of the story...if your goin to race someone, have fun with it dont be pissed off if you get your ass handed to you hahaha

thats what i love about hondas....well...their drivers (most of them) with or without Vtech most of them are slow anyway. when i first got my 2.4 i got my 1st kill the same night. drivin back home with my buddy an integra (which i consider a honda for all intensive purposes) thought he was bad. after 2nd gear each race was done. he had exhaust maybe an intake but who knows didnt care. i beat him to each light by a car...car 1/2...


but yeah....dont get pissy. you win some...and ya lose some....thats all you can do.

haha my friend has a 98 prelude also. he has just a muffler on the stock pipes intake and its a 5 speed. i walk away like nothing he gets so pissed.

The latest style prelude SH (with the vtec motor) and a 2.4 SS are a good race. You shouldn't be walking away from them unless you are pretty heavily modded (in the mid 14's). When my SC was stock and my buddy had his prelude stock at the time I would walk away pretty good from him. They are 15 second cars.

were you suprised by how much you walked on him? my friend has a 01 prelude non sh and i spank him by like 2 cars off the line and he doesn't even come close to pulling hard till we get to about 80 lol i'm in a 2.2 auto btw... his lude is a auto as well but just saying preludes are nothing... the h22 ludes are not to bad until you get them on like a 60 mph roll were they can pretty much start off in vtack lol.

btw what kinda prelude was it h23 or h22?

An H22 lude will smoke any 2.2 that doesn't have some sort of forced induction... lol

your wrong, like i just stated my friend 01 prelude non-sh h22 auto i beat him by 2 cars off the line till about 80 then he flew by me...

they have no bottom end, and they really don't have much of a top end either. but their top end is better than ours, and if you look at the specs on the h22 prelude they don't even get full use of their "200hp" until they are basically at redline.

i actually raced more than just his, i also raced a 99 h22 sh and it was almost the same outcome but i go him by 1 1/2 instead of 2 cars off the line. and he pulled a around 75ish instead of 80ish.

front a dig hondas suck, from a 40/60 roll they are pretty good.

ps i have a detailed review of my race against my friends h22 over in the war stories section... but basically off the line i pull a good 2 cars hard, and i continue to pull until he hits vtec and he will pull a little i shift to 2nd and pull away slowly then he pulls it back when he hits vtec in 2nd. then he'll slowly start to edge up to me and pass me about 80.

if you want me to pull up the numbers for you so i can clarify what im saying then just let me know. but basically pull up both cars on edmunds we get to our full hp alot quicker then they do, and when they do hit max hp they basically have to shift to the next gear. i don't know why honda claims the h22 has 200 hp cause it doesn't until like 7200 rpms i believe and they redline at like 7500 or 7600.

btw your correct the prelude is a 15.6 second 1/4 mile...
the cobalt 2.2 is like a 16.6 1/4 mile

look at the 1/8 mile times and i'm sure u'd be suprised at how close they are int he 1/8th and how much speed the prelude picks up in the last 1/8th of the 1/4 mile.

i was wondering what year model you raced,thanks for stating it.
i had a 01 SE 5 speed, and it could of taken a 2.4 cobalt on the 400m.
automatic prelude is useless,their too heavy.

truthfully i dont really kno weather it was a h22 or what not but i kno it had to been in the 1990's and it looked perrty beat up.... looked like he was tryin to bring it back from the grave if u ask me... and we raced from a rolling start around 55 mph sooo either his car was perrty shitty and he cant drive worth nothin or the 2.4 got alot and i can drive like no other hahahaha

and you mean a sh 5 speed, and if you read my post u'd see i beat one of those as well, i'd dare say in the 1/8 (its the only type of track we have here) i could beat any prelude with say intake and exhaust to and 1/8th they would catch me half way though the last 1/8 in a quarter mile.

if it had trianglish taillights it was a h23 and that should have been pie, h22 woulda been a bit tougher, sounds like it was ragged out pretty bad so wouldn't have mattered either way.
