2 kills in the 2.4 SS Sedan. woohoo!

RACE 1: 2006 Cobalt SS Sedan Auto vs. 2004 Sunfire 5-speed modded 70mph roll

tonight on i-540 a kid in a 2004 pontiac sunfire coupe 5 speed modded pulled up next to me at 70ish and was frogging around like he wanted some. so i let him gas it gather a little dignity and i punched the ole sedan ss after he had a 1 car head start, from 70mph i caught him with a probley 3 seconds, by the time we hit 110 i had 3 car lengths. i gotta say the 2.2 runs VERY WELL, but once VVT kicked in it was all over.

winner: SS Sedan by 3 lengths

Race 2: 2006 Cobalt SS Sedan Auto vs. 2004 RX-8 Auto stoplight to stoplight

now 10 min. later at the stop light a dude in a 2004 mazda rx-8 auto, with exhaust and intake (really loud) was revving his engine then putting it in gear and creaping foward. i noticed him and eased foward, the light turned green and we both punched it, my traction control and displacement got me ahead my 1/2 a car up to 70, then vvt-i helped again, by the time we (me and the screaming wife) hit 100 we had 5 car lengths, we stopped to get gas and the guy pulled up next to us and said "what the hell, is that supercharged!?" i said nope 2.4 SS auto, he was very impressed, his best run at mokan 1/4 mile dragway was a 15.7, he had intake, exhaust, and chip. i thought he was playing with me, but he said it looked like i hit a NOS button at 70. heeeeeeheeeeee heee.

P.S. he is going to go look at a new 2006 SS/SC or SS2.4 tomorrow

winner race2: SS Sedan by 5 lengths

good kills man, rx-8 are slow as ***** in auto i dont see the point in paying that much for a "sports car" and getting it in auto, not taking anything away from you though, way to show him what some good ole displacement will do

yea i was suprised how slow it was, he paid 31,000.00cash i paid 20,000.00 LMAO and i was upside down 2000.00. plus i have gobs of room and get 30+mpgs to his 15mpgs, we dragged a rental 2005 cobalt 2.2 auto sedan and our SS and the rental only loss by 3 car lengths up to 80, that means the 2.2 would probley take it too. ROCK WITH THE COBALTS BIATCH!

blkss4dr- i think we have brother cars, mine is a black sedan SS
we are ordering some aftermarkets for it soon, i heard the 2.4 is quite restricted stock, lets let those horses gallop!

Has anyone taken a vid of when the VVT kicks in? I've never rode in one before. Does it get louder or something or just start to take off?

Well went to Chevy today heres what we ordered:

GMPP Cold Air Intake
GMPP High Flow Header
GMPP Touring Cat-Back exhaust
SS hood blanket

my goal is to break into the 14's someday with a 2.4 auto SS.

im looking for fuel management now
any ideas

godsfshrmn: it is like excelerating up to 4k RPMS at 3/4 trottle, then flooring it to the redline, purdy good punch, whats wierd is it has really good low end also for a vvt-i

I've got the Wester's tune. I love what they did for the TCM; it feels like a different car.

I don't think you'll need any bigger injectors yet. I've got I/H/E, B-pipe + dual e-rams and it just might be leaning out on top a little with the stock 24lb injectors. I plan on dyno tuning it soon, so I bought some stock SS/SC (34lb) injectors just in case I'm maxing out my duty cycle. I'll keep you posted on the results of the dyno tune.

i WILL post pics and videos of before and after the mods.
whats funny is my wife cant wait to get the parts either. lol

well its just so tempting to turbo the 2.4, anyway, raced my mom in her 2006 nissan maxima SE last night and up to 70 she beat me by about 3-4 cars, damn those things are fast!
