The top of 3rd is where my LS2 really shined. 3rd in my SS/SC does not seem as strong as 2nd does, but by that point you are moving fast enough that perception is not really the best measuring stick. 3rd in my LS2 did not "feel" that it punched as hard as 2nd, but it actually punched harder.
And gas isnt all THAT horrible. I have a pretty big cam in and am around maybe 440whp or so.. will find that out on monday when it gets dynod after my formato tune ... but anyways I get 20mpg right now on average.. I know thats nothing like the ss/sc but its not bad for what it is, the M6 helps though.

Hatrickstu's 13.3 @ 104 is pretty damn quick for stg2. I believe he had major headwinds at the track that day too. What did he say, he coulda pulled a 13.1 if it were a better day?

Hatrickstu... a 13.3 @ 104mph... and that wasn't as fast as he's ever gone before (that was his first 1/4 run... his local track is a 1000')

He will go 12's this year, I guarantee it.

that's with suspension work and drag radials...edit: and a tune. a stock ls1 with dragbags a tune and drag radials could hit 12's easy in many cases. I'm just saying, i've heard of stock ls1's trapping 107's and running LOW 13's bone stock. sure they are heavier than the fbod which is capable of 12's but they also have quite a bit shorter gearing, and the ls6 intake and a few other minor tweaks.

I have heard of stock LS1 GTO's trapping 107 too, but the average remains 102-105. That is why I said lower and higher is not unheard of. I have heard of 110 being done in a stock LS2. Either way, the trap speeds of both are good for mid-high 12's if they can launch and get traction.
Do keep in mind that my experience with GTO's has all been in Georgia and Alabama, mostly during the summer, and our summers are hot. If my LS2 was heatsoaked, which does not take long at all, the OP could probably hang with or beat it.

60's are hell in a GTO too. That rear is not the best for drag launching, and it takes practice to launch it well. 2.1 - 2.2 is usually what I was getting the few times I took it to the strip. The squat and wheel hop made me hesitant to really try to push it.

must have been a a4. 6sp would or should have been a different outcome... if your is stock and so was his then props to you for better driveing... personally while mine was stock my son's srt4 stock would not our run my 04 gto stock. and i have raced many cobalt ss and never a loss to one. good run... if you are still stock then port the blower, smaller pulley, better exhaust and it will come alive for sure...

Umm with a stock clutch I had a 1.90 60 ft, some say 1.9's can be done by a4's most m6 are 2.1 2.0, mine was a 2.0.
Also I was one of those GTO's that trapped 110 stock, I did it twice, but only ran a 13.5 each run cause I had shitty 2.2 60ft or something.

Exactly. Based on the description the OP gave, no one gained anything. So there are either two good drivers, or the GTO was an A4. I raced an intake/exhaust SS/SC in my LS2. I would say it was comparable to an LS1 GTO to 90mph, in my area at least. That same SS/SC still lost after he added Stage 2, but he put up a better fight, and he was definitely faster than any stock LS1 GTO I ever ran across.
And, I don't consider myself a good driver either. Maybe we are both just average. Who knows.

It was quoted on the last page. I no longer have a reason to read the other two pages, because, imagine this, my GTO SSSC thread has been jacked by the fanboys of both clubs. So, when I say I raced a 5.7 on the first page, and he says he's too good to bother with 5.7s on the last page, I take it as directed at me. Which, looking again, I still think it was.

ohhh woooo a respectable lsj! let me tell you about the ls1. there are ls1 gto's running 11's @ 115+ with long tubes, a cam, a few other bolt ons and minor suspension work. that's gonna cost them less than it costs some of you guys to touch twelves. I just can't stand how little respect some of the people on this site show for other cars, especially ones that stock for stock and mod for mod are just faster.

Dave was so excited when he hit his first 12.......did a 12.8 at 109 with a 1.9 60' on stock tires. I was very proud....especially with just an intake.

For sure. But please look at my other post in this thread. i never bashed the goats or stangs. Infact I believe I said that i would of taken a 6.0 if not for insurance and gas. I don't like people being fan boys either.
