2005 2.2L vs. 2000 Jetta 1.8T

All speeds in KM/h. Was cruising on the highway this evening doing about 110 when the jetta comes flying past me in the left lane. Being the first day with my clear image header/dp I wanted to give it a testing anyway, I caught up to him at around 130 and was about to pull along side him to get him to go with me when he lays on it and takes off..exit was coming to take us to another highway so I jump in behind him and stay on his ass the whole length of the ramp. We both merge into the highway..no traffic at all btw...he immediately hammers on it while I was coming up along side again....this time with a lot more highway to work with before an exit, I stay in the outer lane and with him taking off to about 5 or 6 car lengths before I went WOT. We went up to about 165 with me reeling him in the entire way steadily. I was by his back doors and steadily coming up his side to pull ahead when the wanker slams on his brakes and veers off on the exit we were about to pass...guess he didnt want to lose. I quickly laid on the brakes and went the same way as him thinking we might get a race from a dig at a stoplight on the next road...nothing doing..he gets down the ramp and proceeds to take off ahead of me and fly through a yellow light instead of stopping to race...

Im 100% confident if we went from an even roll, id beat him handily based on the fact I reeled him in at such a good rate with him getting a big jump on me.

Two things I learned:

1. The clear image automotive header/dp is ****** awesome

2. Don't go from 165KM/h to 50KM/h in a short distance because it caused my stoptech rotors and hawk pads to smoke.

So let me get this straight..you gave him a 5 car jump then had enough power to match his momentem from the big jump plus enough to pull even with him. That doesn't add up......

Its possible down low. I have a friend with a vr6 corrado, and i stuck with him till about 60 in a basically stock 2.2 I'm pretty sure he would have pulled away after that

okay tell me what exactly is the point of coming on here and lieing about something... i'm not saying the original poster lied infact quite the opposite, why would someone come on here make a claim thats false? what would he be proving by doing so? why is everyone so quick to jump to the conclusion that someone is bullshitting...

from a dig i pull a 01 prelude 200hp by almost 2 cars, till we get to 90 then he flies by me... i don't see why its so unbelievable for a 2.2 to pull a 180 hp car and even more believable to pull the 150 hp version of the 1.8t. when i had my mazdaspeed it was 170 hp stock and i'd eat 1.8ts for breakfast lunch and dinner.

Did you not read he for some reason gave him a 5-6 car head start.I doubt even a SC/TC would have enough power to stop the pull, make up 5-6 cars(with the addition of him still going) and nearly pass him before it was shut down.

Thank you

My 2.2 didn't pull on a 180HP though lol...it was the 150HP version of the 1.8T, NOT one of the newer ones..its actually a good matched up race for my 2.2 with bolt ons and tune.

my friend with the stock 200hp prelude i could give him a 2 car lead and catch him and pass him from a dig... but im sure you don't believe that either, but it happened. i could get him on here to prove it but whats the point you still wouldn't believe it...

why would he come on here and tell his story if it didn't happen? what would he gain from doing this? a lil reputation or respect? there are some cars on some peoples kill list in their signatures that i think are way way way bs, but i don't call them on it, a million and a half things could happen during a race to give you and edge over the other person... street racing is so unpredictable... go to a track and lay it down like that would be much better still unpredictable to many things could go wrong human error, mechanically, electronically. anyways he says he did it i beleive him, i have no reason to believe he is lieing to us.. because if you do its just stupid and pointless.

anyways nice kill and don't worry someone is always going to call your bluff, you were there u know what happened and thats all that matters... don't let people discourage you from posting your stories...

my stock 2.2 beat my friends stock 03 1.8t jetta with the ko3 sport turbo.

now he has full turbo back exhaust, apr stage 2, moter mounts, coil overs, intake and he's pushing 240 to the wheels.

so that thing was stock fore sure. 1.8t's are good and cheap/easy engines to mod.

People here don't rebadge cars, simple as that. We have a very small burner scene here and it's either 100% debadge or stock.

I can vouche for jlmd, i know him personally and he's no reason to fabricate or lie.

Definately possible, good run.

In Japan the G35 is called the Skyline.
