2006 Cobalt SS/SC VS 1991 Eclipse GS Turbo
alright, I know I don't own a cobalt, but after my recent first impressions with the cobalt ss/sc I wanted to see how my friends '91 gst stacked up against the cobalt so I went to the dealership again, a different one, and jumped in it and went down to walmart where my friend was waiting. the cobalt has the g85 package and the dealer was riding with me, a hot chick by the way. the gst has stock downpipe, 2.5" exhaust, B16g turbo, greddy type s bov, walboro 255, P/P intake manifold and head. To be honest, the fuel pump is kind of hurting him because he's still pushing stock boost. which is retarded. but the P/P I/M and head and exhaust and turbo should be more than enough to pull the cobalt.
well, we are on our way back to the dealership, my friend has a passenger as well as me, so it's pretty even. we are at about 35/40mph so I know that is the cobalt's powerband from what I've been reading on this forum, I blip the throttle and then punch it, he punches it right after I do, so I jumped a half car at first, I held the half car from 40-60 and then let out as he was reeling me in fast. it wasn't really a fair race and I wouldn't really count it as a win, but it definitely impressed me and my friends as my first impressions weren't all that great. I definitely loved the supercharger whine against his air sucking turbo and bov.
on a side note, no the dealer did not like me messing around with my friend and she was not enjoying the ride too much either, on the other hand though, she seemed to forget about it as we pulled back up to the dealership as she was trying real hard to get me to buy it, of course I can't get one yet as I have till aug. left in Guam, but I'm getting more and more interested in these cars the more I read about tofu and silver ss/sc and my short experiences with it. just thought I'd let you guys know about my little fun today.

sorry to not have replied to this lately. I'm still on leave here in SC. uh, the dealer was pretty mad at me for doing that, but she was still trying to sell me the car. I grew up here and everybody knows me everywhere. so even the the dealer was mad, she was like, figures you do something like that. lol. It sure is great when you grow up in a small town!
