2010 2.2 LAP Cobalt VS. 2003 Mercury Marauder
Hey guys,
Me and my bud just started a Youtube channel called " The Jank Garage " and uploaded our first video. I know the quality isn't great but were gunna keep working at it. Currently working on getting two go pros so we can shoot POV driving, exhaust clips, etc.
The channel is going to follow my Cobalt build, we are currently sourcing parts to do a eaten m62 supercharger install and we will be filming the entire process! Trying to stay around ~$2000 for the build.
My buddy also is going to be doing some work to his Marauder but hasn't decided on what, feel free to chime in with input on what you want to see done!
If you want to see our first video of my Cobalt vs his marauder, heres the link:
Edit : rematch with better camera angles here .
Video's are going to be going up weekly on Sundays. Subscribe on Youtube if you want to stay informed, Cheers!
EDIT : Results - We were dead even our first two runs, marauder beat my cobalt by about a car length on the last run -.-

Yeah next time were going to do POV shots from inside the cars. We only had one camera so it was tough getting the footage. I put the info in the description on youtube. The first two runs were dead even . Third run I bounced off my rev limiter going from second to third and he beat my cobalt by a car length
Next nice day we're going to have a rematch.

nice video. yeah, need the cameras in the actual race and it would be a solid video. Surprised the Marauder was that slow?? I guess they have the old mustang 4.6L right? probably 200 whp?

Edit - these numbers should be at the crank, not whp -.-

Make sure you dont say that in any future videos you make show casing the Marauder again

Marauders are acutually rated somewhere between 220-250whp depending on how friendly the dyno is. I looked it up. Seems the consensus was about 230whp on average. If your friend told you it has 305 whp, you should have realized it didnt when you stayed at his side throughout the whole race.
I remember 2V stangs making just north of 200whp back in the day with their 4.6L v8s. They were rated 240bhp from factory. 305whp would be like 380bhp in an automatic Marauder. Your car must be around 135ish whp and weighs 2900 Ibs. vs a marauder at 200ish whp 4300 Ib car.
If you just look at power to weight ratio, you'd see you both should accelerate almost roughly the same rate. 2900 Ibs / 135 whp = 21.48 Ib/whp. 4300 Ibs / 200 whp = 21.5 Ib/whp.
This math regardless of trans can give you a pretty good idea on what cars move out faster. With that said. tuned LNF balt is around 3100 Ibs / 310 whp = 10.0 Ib/whp. Dont run any tuned LNF cobalts in your video They would accelerate away at more than double your acceleration rate.

Of course a LNF would wreck both these cars, would love to make a video of them all racing and showcase the LNF a bit

Nah I'm near the Mexican border. I'm fully bolted and on half ethanol fuel. Also have a very aggressive self tune. Going to install balance shaft deletes and a self-ported head eventually with stage 2 SC cams custom made to fit the 07-08 head and some Pwerks valve springs. I'll see how it does on HP at 8000rpm then I'll supercharge it. Should be fun
