300zx info needed

Ok guys I have been called out by a buddy of mine at work. He is picking up his 92 (I belive) 300zx non-turbo 5 speed next week and wants to run my SS/SC. He said it has close to 105,000 miles on it and is bone stock. Im also bone stock other than the air box mod. I have no clue what they weight but im thinking he will pull me out of the hole since were going from a dead stop and he is RWD. So what do ya'll think? Im thinking Im gona have to play catch up if I can catch up at all.

Ohh one more thing he wants to do this the day after he gets the car. He has test drove it but thats it........im gona take his no seat time as a thumbs up in my direction.

If its a bone stock NA 300ZX you'll win with no problems at all. They are only 222hp at the crank.

You should run him, they run very good(depending on how well kept it is)...but I don't think it has quite the power as the SS/SC, so do it and post vids or pics! Good luck. I had a '91 ZX 2+2 auto, it was like the taurus of the sports cars! Ran 10 flat in the 1/8 at best, not bad for 130,000 miles!

A good friend of mine had a rare slick top 300ZX N/A. I must say they are one of the few cars that actually look real good with a bodykit. Good looking cars but the N/A just doesn't have good power. On the other hand I knew another guy with a stock looking twin turbo 300 and that thing was sick.

a tiwn turbo 300zx id be a little worried. i still think a stage 2 SS from a roll could take a TT 300ZX

Even a 300ZX TT would lose to an SS/SC. They are almost 4000lb cars, and not really special, if it hasn't been touched, they are 14 sec cars at best.

Now, a little boost controller and exhaust, and you are fucked. Don't get too cocky.

id say a stock RHD tt 300 would take a stock ss/sc

What difference does RHD make?

I'm also considering the car being 15 years old and having 100,000 miles on it. Real world results, not magazine numbers. They were conisdered a very fast car nearly 20 years ago, but times change, cars get old.

well RHD j-spec cars dont have alot of mileage on them and are also faster from factory.

ah nevermind, unlike most j-spec cars it was the same as the USA version

Not true. A good running well driven TT is capable of 13's stock, so from a dig a stock TT could very well beat a stock SS/SC. If the TT has any mods at all its pretty much over for the SS/SC.

Now if its a roll race, the SS/SC has the advantage.

I'm not assuming a fully stock SS/SC, I thought the OP had some mods...

Either way, I'd be suprised if you got into a regular, used, stock 300ZX and pulled off a 13 sec pass, considering people can't do it in the 350's with more power and less weight...

he probably wasnt stock then...lol

my friends got one. Almost stock everything. He retuned it, tuned for 20psi on stock turbos (it runs 10psi from the factory), and has a larger IC, and his last dyno was around 360whp

Funny you should say this. I pulled a 13.79 with a crap 60' in my 07 350Z and its bone stock. Now the 03 - 06's are a bit slower but even those go high 13's with a good 60'. The 300ZX TT is no slouch at all. If its a good running car they can run 13's. A boost controller and they are in the low 13's. Now obviously a neglected and wore out car will be slower.

The OP won't have any issues winning against his buddy. The NA 300ZX is a 15 second car. Now I've seen one with full bolt on's run a 14.1, which isn't to shabby for an ancient NA 3.0 V6.

if i was you i would put a wager up. than peddle the gas and just make sure you win. but make it seem like he is catching you and about to pass... than of course win... he will want to race again for the same amount of money or he will up the amount... than 2nd time around pwn him... that's how i do it if i know i'm going to eat the opposing car.

if he takes care of his car and gives it tune ups and the care like he should, you will barely walk him

i just finished up a TT vg30dett in a customers 300zx and i was mesing around with his n/a and it made good power

and FYI, its not 222hp to crank, more like 250hp to the wheels, those 300zx were under rated

now, be gay and pull out insufficent knowledge from wikipedia and tell me im wrong. I AM NISSAN
