98 Escort ZX2 versus Cobalt SS/SC

By that logic, I could say that a "Stock-hp base-model Sentra can run high 14's" and you would be retarded if you argued with it, because SCC took off all the body panels and interior, and sawed off everything that wasn't totally necessary, and ran high 14's. Your argument makes ZERO sense. If you make a claim and leave out some VERY IMPORTANT information, like removing over 10% of the car's weight, then it is LOGICAL to ask for more info.
Also, you didn't list specific mods, but just like No Remorse, you gave half of the story, and neglected to mention some very important details, like, oh, I don't know, removing 400lbs of weight and adding slicks and skinnies.
"A staged (GM stage 2) SS/SC can run 13 flat." This can be argued, because it takes more than JUST stage 2.
It also takes more than JUST 220whp to make an Si run 12's. It also takes removing 400lbs and pulling great 60's using slicks. Wow... a 5-year-old could have seen the hole in that argument.
I didn't lead anyone on. He did and even admitted to it. That is the only difference that matters and makes your whole justification bunk.

BTW, my stock-engine, street-tired 4-cylinder Mustang runs 8's in the 1/4mile.[/QUOTE]
stock engine, moved to the trunk, with a roots blown big block v8 in the front on slicks and skinnies, with weight reduction and drag suspension....but you never said it didn't have other mods, so it's totally true and everyone should have known what you were talking about

Wow, you can't read either. I never said 'just'. Thanks for coming.

Well, I have seen LSJ cars run close to 14flat stock.... and almost 13flat staged.
good luck.
that is exactly what he said. i don't see just or only in that statement. hell i was arguing against what he said too, both of you made statements that should have been made totally differently, but you pretty much did exactly the same thing, i don't understand how you even think you are making a valid argument against that.

Another thing he failed to mention he said on another thread is that those who owned those 12 second 220+ whp cars did H.O Motor swaps So it wasnt' stock, it had bolt on galore which he said just removed restrictions and didn't add power since the motor already has that *hidden and bottled* power.
Also they dropped 600lbs off original weight of car. So it had just a milk crate and a frame to go down the track with.

I can take it on and off in 30-minutes so I don't have to put it in my mod list... duh!

There were no power adders, smart guy. Please dig up the post where you OR Sethallen said an exhaust and intake was a power adder.
H.O Motor?????
#108
H.O = High Output. Even Short Bus Newbies know that one. It's a power adder if you need it on the car to flow better. It's not a restrction because if it was then just take it off and run open header or with no intake at all
#109
intake and exhaust do add power...they aren't what you would call power adders (forced induction/nitrous etc) but they do add power. saying, "intake and exhaust just free up power that was already there" is the dumbest thing i have ever heard because yes stock exhaust/intake can be restrictive, but that is part of the car. Better flowing heads, more aggressive cams, and full bolt ons would just "free up" power too in a way, but if you try to claim they don't "add" power around anyone that knows what they are talking about you will just get laughed at.

Bolt-ons are not power adders. period. They don't make the engine make more power. The engine is making the same power regardless, nothing has changed in the engine. You would get laughed at severly more than me for calling bolt-ons, power-adders. They free up power that the engine is already making but was restricted from doing so.
well then a tune is a bolt on, ported and polished heads are bolt ons, etc. the intake is PART OF THE ENGINE, so when you change it, you are not just lettting the engine make the power it already made. you are changing a part of the engine, just like changing an intake manifold or exhaust manifold...anything to do with exhaust/intake on the engine can be changed to be less restrictive, that does not mean they are not adding power. When you swap out your intake for a better (usually larger diameter) one, change headers, intake manifold, exhaust, etc, you are increasing the cfm your motor will flow...porting and polishing a blower does the same thing, so i guess that is not considered a power adder . i guess more boost from a stock turbo car is not a power adder, because the stock turbo could already make that boost, the wastegate was just set to bleed it off before, and now that you are letting it build that boost, it is power the engine already had, but it was restricted. your logic is retarded.

What-tha-fu-hell? Wow, you guys sure do get off track here. lol
Well, I haven't been to the dyno yet. I'm still running the base tune and using a Xcal 2 to flash the PCM. It will make more power after a dyno and I'm excited to see what I can get out of it at the track.
I know what you mean about the transmisson in this car. It really isn't bad, it is the two spider differental that is killer. A Phantom Grip is about all you'll need to keep the tranny together. It'll be fine if you don't power or speed shift it.
As for the comment on the video. They were being asses and it pissed me off. I was trying to get a rise out of them. There was something definitly wrong with that Mustang and he shouldn't have lost by that much. That engine didn't sound right at all.
I would like to thank you all for the encouragement and positive comments on my car. It is very rare that anyone gives the Escort any props or ackowlegment at all.

people always talk **** about cars when they start to establish a name for themselves, or even when they are huge performance icons already. people make fun of supras as dyno queens, mustangs with various names, camaros as mullet machines, cobalts as slowbalts, srt-4's as "just a neon", etc. people only seem to respect cars that run low 12's stock now-a-days and 95% of those people can't afford a car that runs low 16's. when someone's superiority is threatened by ANY car, all they do is try to think of ways in which their car is better...sometimes it go so bad to the point where people are like, "well my car is better in the snow!" WTF?! it's so annoying how bias everyone on the internet is, but then again we ALL do it.

I was more talking about in person. The internet I can deal with, I understand that, lol.
But an ewual ammount of people are impressed that they even make a SC saturn, and that it is that fast. Can't please everyone, so ya have to at least make yourself happy. I like my car, that's all that matters
#123
yeah i know, lots of people like talking ****, its even funnier when that person has a bigger pos car than you do too, this one guy at my friends work has a turbo 3cyl sprint and talks down my car all the time, doesnt really bother me cause i know my car is ten times better and faster but whatever, it is a pretty quick car tho, i think he has ran low-mid 15s with it, and next spring he is building up the engine for 18psi, he thinks he should see mid-high 13s but we will see, he wants to beat my cobalt, haha, i am going to have to start doing some more mods....wouldnt want to lose to a sprint....i would feel like the mustang guys do when they lose to a cobalt.....
#124
wow, i don't know if i'm tired, or threads were deleted... but damn, i just tried following along and have no idea what hte hell is going on besides the fact that people are bitching about "possibilites" with nothing else to back it up but saying "it's possible".... sounds damn gay to me
