'98 z28 vs SS/SC
Was out working on my H/E last night and ran my buddies Camaro. It has 3.73's, SLP Long tubes, 3" offroad Y-pipe, Borla catback, some sort of lid, and a Tune. We went from 50 to about 110 and he only put a car on me the first time, 2nd time he pulled a car in front through 2nd but missed 3rd and I stopped going.. Not bad for a OTT Stage 1 car..

How was the LT1 that worst v8 engine GM made.. That engine is the ls1's big little brother.
It was not a bad engine in the least.. It had some issues that could have been better just like any motor, but it was far from a slouch and most lsj's on this site couldn't pull a full bolt on and geared lt1.. Its far from a slouch.

How do you figure? The LT1 dominated the streets from 93-97. It was the fastest V8 out there till the LS1 was released. L98 was the worst V8 produced. Had ZERO top end and peaked out at 4800rpm.

pretty funny that mid 14 second cars "dominated the streets" how sad is that
The LT1s are pretty slow, My best bud had a tweaked Volvo 850 T5 that shamed soooo many Z28s and Mutang GT's
In the LT1's defense, when coupled with a nice catback, produced some of the silkiest deepest V8 soundtracks ever.

Theres a reason the ls series has been around for such a long time. The engines ROCK. The lt was more trouble than what its worth so it was scrapped after such a short stint.

the lt1 is NO comparison to the ls series motor. No comparison. Those engines in particular had lots of problems from what I heard.

It's more about technology. The LT1 is a gen 2 engine that is based on the Gen 1 SBC but with Reverse flow cooling and ungodly POS Optispark.
The Gen 3 LS1 was new in EVERY way. Even the bore/stroke wasn't even used from the Gen 1/2. The LS1's heads flowed as well as Nascar race heads from the early 90's
The facts are that most LT1's have over 150K on them and are beat to HELL which is why they perform like ass. I only defend the LT1 because i had an LT1 SS in the 90's and it was a beast.

It's easy to beat on cars that have 150K+ miles. Stock LT1 cars in good condition are 14 flat at 99mph cars

back in the day when i was as highschool aged punk, 99% of the brand new LT1s hardly ever cracked into the 13's without gears and all boltons. They really didnt have any topend. 14 flat is very very optimistic...

They were probably 2.73 cars then. Have seen TONS of bone stock M6 LT1's do 14.0-14.1 at 99-98 bone stock
