Even if I get beat, at least it'll be a cool race.

That was a cool Vid. Uneek I would love to race you but you are ~1000 miles away. Hey any one game in LA with SS SC to meet him and race him. A video would also be nice.
I will see if the guy will race me this week end if I can find him. I did not see him last weekend so mabe hill be game this week end.

When you see a dyno sheet for a S/C Tiburon why even act like a N/A stands a chance?
I am not trying to be a ***** but the Tiburon isn't even close to the category the SS/SC and SRT-4 is in.

well I have a Tib V-6, all naturally aspirated and I will pull on a SS S/C, on a loaded Mustang type dyno I make 209 whp and 190 WTQ.....I have had a breif rolling race with 2 different Cobalt S/C's and i pull steadily, and this was from about 40-60 KM/H.......off the line it wouldn't be fair as I run DR's with full suspension...........I have a video of me running a modded 350Z, on a roll he inches me out, off the line I kill him....I will e-mail it if someone wants to see the video and host it...i just need to figure out how to compress it.........................The Tiburon is geared very well, we have a broad powerband and a 190 WHP Tib will run 14.4's at about 97 mph..with I/E guys run around 14.9@ 92 mph they add headers and get 14.7's-14.5's@95 mph
stock I dynoed 135 WHp and now I dyno 209, i gained 78 whp from CAI/H/E/RE=grind cams/poted intake/custom tuned ecu..........
the Cobalt SS will run well with a Stage 0 supercharged Tib around 190-200 whp.....but we have Supercharged Tib's all the way up to 340 WHP..Stock the Tib is very slow, but its engine is amazing and produces HP pretty easily, it has very strong flowing heads.......quality well drive a Cobalt then drive a Tib you will see....the Tib is tighter and better put together, the body seam lines are better, the interior is quieter and the engine is smoother..............but performance sucks compared to the Cobalt

They do have mad potentinal..........but they are slow ,even with a cai& exhaust.

Beware of Tibs. While everyone is correct in that they are nothing special in stock trim, they do take well to mods, especially boosted. There is a black GT here in Phx (kid from NY going to school at ASU). Saw him at the local strip and he was putting down low 13's, i.e. 13.2, 13.3. Supercharged and some other bolt ons. I asked and he hadn't dug into the internals. Looked pretty plain Jane and was very quick. Stock ones and those with intake/exhaust should not pose a problem for SS/SC's.

My buddy mike has a tibby v6-GT...its been in the shop 4 times since hes had it (hes owned it for a year). Yea with a supercharger it would be a very close race if not the tibby would win by a nose, but they would have to take it too the shop rite after to get whatever broke on it durring the race fixed. My friend mike regrets not goin with a srt4 but now hes up ***** creek with NO PADDLE....and refering to that video, that ne one of us SS/SC owner could pwn that SRT-shitbag IMO

the Tib is geared better, we have a 4.42 final drive...........but whatever the reason a 175 ish whp car is running similar 1/4 mile times to the Cobalt at almost identical trap speeds and 60'....there are many 175-185 whp Tib's running mid 14's...a 200 whp SC tib is running around 14.2...and a 220 whp Tib is 13.9 ...why I cannot say......what does a Cobalt run on a Mustang dyno ? as my car runs 209 whp Mustang, equal to over 225-230 dynojet..............and I am not supercharged, I am all motor.........

In stock form Tiburons run mid to high 15's that isn't similar to the Cobalt unless were talking 2.2's.
I think your kinda stretching the capabilities of the Tiburon. And I would really hope you have internal engine work because intake and exhaust won't bump a 175HP car to 230HP.

I listed my mods in my post, no internal work except re-grinding the stock cams by Crower...............the 1/4 mile times i have given are proven and acheived, this isn't ricer math these are guys with both dyno slips and timeslips to back themselves up. no exageration........I can even show you a Vid of a Tib with 178 whp running a 14.1 at Atco at 97 mph.....all you have to do is go to NewTiburon.com and look for yourself, I'm not lying........the Tib runs a 15.9 stock for most guys, but it gains power fast.......I gained 78 whp from bolt ons and a set of re-frind cams. I have all the dynoes as well

What is accomplished in the regrind of cams by Crower? I'm confused as any removal of materal from a cam lobe would have a negative effect on lift/duration. At least I think it would be negative but I'm not a cam scientist.

well when you re-grind the cams, you actualy grind material off the backside of the cam, which will allow more lift and duration on the top side, to make up for the lost base circle we put small shims on top of the valve................On my car the cams untuned added 28 whp alone.....and re-grinds are much more limited then actual fresh cam grinds.....

yes I retuned, but I gained no top end power though....I am at the max limit of what my MAF will read and what my injectors will flow......as well I am running a lightly ported stock intake manifold............so I am restricted on 3 fronts, and it will be costly to go further..New Intake manifold, new injectors, Maf extender, fuel tuner.......about 2K for another20 whp...not worth it.......
though now that I am tuned my car runs alot nicer, I make a broader power curve and the car is much more stable at lower RPMS....even though its cammed it runs and drives like it came from factory that way....my car has a lumpy V-8 sound at idle, its pretty crazy for a import...I have a video that needs hosting, a fellow here gave me his e-mail but I lost it
