well sort of.. its that they are the lightest and came with the motor (6 bolt) the 2nd gen would need to swap in anyway. and they are a boat load cheaper

Well here is my 2 cents worth, I have ran a newer GT on the highway in my first non G85 balt on the highway and he could not hang. I also was runing this same car at the track when it had 600 miles on it, and was not used to the lack of traction problem. I got put up against a late 90's GST that got me out of the whole. I spun in first, and second, short shifted into third and bogged for a split second till I got up to my power and by then he had me by a good 2 cars. I pulled him in hard and got him by 5 or six cars in the end. To top it off it was my worst run of the night, did not even break into the 15's. The GST ran a high 16. Pretty sad. not saying all mits are slow, but the two I ran in my old car were, or had really bad drivers. True a bad driver can butcher a fast cars rep, I was running a second or two slower in the 1/4 mile because I couldnt launch my car right. I am happy to say with a little practice my new balt ran 14.3 on just stage 2. Cant wait to go back with new mods and try to break into the 13's.

GST= FWD
GSX= AWD

Any reasonably well done AWD DSM should run 13's, or better. The GST has traction issues, just like the SS/SC and Redline.

only problem with DSMs is that everyone that i know into them keeps like two spare trannys, an extra diff, and perhaps a shortblock in the garage... for when theirs break.

Even if you don't brake them often, once often costs more than enough.

lol month old thread.

but to respond to another post...hviper, are you sure it wasn't just a gs? a gs-t runs low 15's, so he must have screwed up almost as much as you if it was a gs-t.
