believe it or not...06 SS/SC vs 04 GTO
well, lemme set the stage...
me: 06 Cobalt SS/SC w/ K&N CAI (no cell still:-P) and Magnaflow exhaust
him: 04 GTO stock 6speed
so we were coming back from the recent j-body/cobalt meet in charlotte. we had been wanting to do some runs for a while. well, we got bored coming up the road from the meet and decided to take it from 60...weird thing was, i hung with him till he got good into 4th, and only then he would walk slowly away. well we got a little more curious and decided to do some 20mph rolls on this sweet stretch of road near his house. We line up take it to 20mph, honk three times....SAME RESULT. i stay right with him till 4th gear. i was shocked. i dunno if it was the buffet we ate in charlotte or what but niiice. needless to say he was shocked as well. we did the same runs about 3 times just to make sure it wasnt a fluke and the same thing happened everytime. i cant wait to get my intense kit installed now...

well an 04 gto is VERY heavy and has an LS1 in it(good for about 350hp@ the engine). Your car has around 230hp(maybe, more or less) and weighs less, whatd you think would happen?

Damn pretty impressive although I don't think that will happen all the time. Cobalt with i/e against stock 04 gto, having the gto edge out most of the time. Probably not by much though. But good runs either way. Every day I get more surprised at what my car can do/has done

I TOTALLY BELIEVE YOU! My buddy had a 04 gto with: long tube headers, high flow cats,78mm TB, B&M short throw, K&N filter, and he only dyno'd 315whp, and 330 wtq. They are very heavy, and they have bad traction problems off the line due to there independent rear supsension. The best he could run in the 1/8 mile was 9.0'. The best a ran(bone stock) was a 9.3'. So i wanted to race him in the 1/4, and we did and he only beat me by 2 cars. From a kick, he could barely pull on me.
I think that our cars could take a bone stock auto. 04 GTO.

This is the previous GTO vs. SS Thread, didn't go so well

Its funny how the people who havent raced one, are saying how its not possible because its a "LS1". But the people who have driven one(like myself) or raced oned say that they arent that fast.

I paided $18500 brand new for my car
My buddy paided 26,000 brand new for his 04 GTO 6 speed.
He can barely pull on me!
I wished we would havent raced when he was bone stock!

thus' the reason i waited for the 05' LS2......a bone stock 04 GTO runs a very very low 14 in the 1/4 while a bone stock 05' runs a 13.1. i also noticed someone said that there would be no problem beating a auto 04.....not in this case....with the newer gto's the automatic are actually quicker than the sticks just a little bit of helpful info.....

yea the sad thing is that the mojority of the drivers aren't that great.....on the stock tires it is very hard to pull those times...i just bought a pair of nitto nt 555r's which should get me into the high 12's.......getting the stock tires to grab is very tricky. i agree it can be done but not as often as the typical ones which are running in the 14's.

This started out peaceful...but i think its gonna start to get ugly. Anyways..
Im just gonna say this. Ive seen many SS/SC vs. RSX Type S threads. And I believe an SS/SC should easy handle a Type S. But I saw my friend in his 05 Type S with only an exhaust beat an SS/SC. Then I raced my friends Type S and absolutely murdered him.
It always depends on the driver IMHO
