I rode in my buddy's stock '02 GTS and it was pleasure to be in, it was quicker than I thought it would be, definitely faster than a 2.2l...also they weigh 2600lbs not 2500lbs...

i think the auto weighs about 2590 and the manual weighs almost 2500 even. thats just what i've read people are weighing in at.

LOL that was pretty funny

gt-s off the lot with full tank weighs in at almost exactly 2600lbs... cakeeater is just about dead on with the weights. one reason why a stock gutted gt-s can turn 14.5's

nah you'd need a full gto swap to run with an ls2 goat. might be able to keep the cobalt shift knob, but i dono it might turn to ash in the presence of the rest of the godly essence that is the ls2 gto.

yeah i had an auto gt-s 2002 and it was slower than anything, ran a 17.8 1/4 mile. the reason being that you have to be able to rev really high to stay in whats called LIFT and the automatic cant do that.

dude these things are buckets. i have know at least 5 people that had these, everyone of them blew up the engine and or trans. i know of one guy that in 55,000 miles the car got 4 engines, another that in 60,000 had 2. they are junk i think my left foot makes more torque.

I think Toyota lowered the rev limiter later because of the engines popping.

you should tell them how to drive... i have had to replace many of those motors from mis-shifting or blowing up the oil pump... lack of driving experience was the reason for every motor that i saw pop. other then some syncro issues on the 2000's and of course the gate change the trannies are fine. motor wise the lift bolts can be weak... i wouldn't be suprised if i replaced one of your friends motors. i remember 3 coming through the shop due to a kids racing on 37...

also, adding an additional half qt of oil emilinates oil pump failure when driving the car hard around turns

they don't need torque..

why don't you tell lotus that the motors are buckets. i think they would have a bit more knowledge then what your friends have done.

I'm pretty sure they lowered the rev limiter in 2002, then bumped it back up when they realized the car was now significantly slower. It was virtually impossible to land the car back in "lift" (read: VTEC) on shifts with the lower rev limiter.

i currently still have my 2001 gts and its very quick..it feels quicker than my stock ss/sc by alot...many people who own them dont know the older 01 red lines at 8400 and if you shift right on 8300 or right before that limiter you can land right on 6000 so you essentially stay in lift the whole time..many gts i have seen when they shift they land back under 6k and haft to weight again to hit lift making them noticably slower...i was in high 14's with just intake and exhaust and with shitty launches..so all you guys who say 15's going down hill dont know jack ****...
