Weight will make very little difference in top speed, especially a lousy 100lbs or so. The biggie is wind resistance, the function is cubic. Meaning if a stock CSS hits 145 with 215 horses (assuming the car is geared to hit drag limited top end at the peak of horsepower), then it will take 262 horsepower to push it up to 155. 160MPH would require almost 290 horses. 190 MPH would be a whopping 484 Horsepower (at the appropriate engine speed for the gearing. Now....if GM is getting nearly 500 horses with an ECM change, I will eat a bug.

i can now vouch for the 150mph+. i hit 155mph last night but it didnt wanna go any higher. i wasnt hitting the rev limiter or a fuel cut off, it just couldnt overcome the drag. and no i wasnt going down hill or have a tail wind.

It's the reason why commercial jets fly at 30,000 feet so there is less drag which allows them to go faster and be more fuel efficient.

why do i think thats wrong?
also the high altitude would cause a lower air pressure..not the temp tho.
cold=dense.
