cobalt ss/sc vs 370z

so a buddy of mine traded in his sc talon for a new 370z so we thought we would go do a few runs from 40, he only has new intakes on his car and thats it, but was slowely able to walk me, this was when i had the 2.8 pulley and the intense tune, now i have a 2.6 with h/e and a tune from zzp so this weekend we are goin to try again, ill try and take a video of it if we do

I'm really surprised you could hang with him. The new 370Z's are low 13 second cars stock and trap atleast 105+. I guess racing from a roll gives you a decent advantage, but figured he would still win by more. Lets see the next video.

you're going to stay with him for 2 runs then throw you're 4th cyl ringland and sound like a boxer. I would stay away from 2.6, the fact it's in conjunction with a zzp tune gives me shivers.

I didnt know the SS/SC's ran a flat 13 and trapped 105+ with a 2.6 pulley.

370z's don't either. From my research they are a solid 13 second car, meaning they will run in the decent 13's no matter the driver. But they'll run anywhere between a 13.3 to a 13.7 depending on driver. I doubt the guy he's running is a professional driver running slicks. He won't run a 13.0 He can easy pull on him by a fender with those mods.

Umm, the 07-08 350Z's were deep into the 13's stock, and the new 370Z is faster, which means its around a flat 13 second car stock.

And I know Cobalts are better from rolls, which is fine with me, but I like to know who's faster in the 1/8 or 1/4 mile. But roll racing is getting more and more common.

Stu ran a 12.75 @ 108.9 with a 2.85

Honestly though this was from a roll and people have seen better traps than 105 with bigger than 2.6 pulleys.

Traps don't tell the whole story. Most of your ET is made in the first 1/8th mile

WOW, one f*cking person out of how many? It's still on average a low 13 second car with a good driver. And from a dig I will give it to the 370Z all day, but I guess in todays world it's all about roll racing isnt it?

thats because on average very few cobalt owners actually take their junk to the racetrack. Most of them "roll race" on the streets.

I say the cobalt stays even with the Z.

From a roll, I will agree that the SS/SC will stay even with a 370Z. Are we sure we cant change with site to, rollracingisbest.com, LOL.

Tkes away most of the drive skill aspect. IMHO it is better for comparing the performance of two cars not two drivers.

If you're gonna race your car, you need to have the whole package, fast car and driver skill.

Results from a dig or drag racing, racing from a roll, and racing around the twisties are all indicative of completely different categories of performance.

Obviously a quarter mile drag is very launch intensive, who can hook up the best.

A roll race shows which car actually pulls harder, generally.

I could bash on people who toss up the 1/4 on a pedestal and rag on them for not being real racers because they can't take the corners. I believe a straight line only tells half the story, but then again in reality on the highways and public roads.... taking twisties isn't often a valid option or even necessary.. even if you wanted to outrun and get away from someone.

It's all subjective dude. They all have their place.

I know they all have their place, but it always seems like when the discussion comes up about the SS/TC beating a certain car, it's always from a roll. My only concern with that is, yeah from a roll you beat the car, but that is because the SS/TC has a sweet spot from a roll. Race it from a dig against a car it can beat from a roll, the outcome will be different. Like you said it's all subjective, I just hate the arguing all the time about dig and roll racing.
