Exactly... and Dodge saw the SS/SC and was like...

"Damn... We might be fast... but look at that Style... we can't compete... Pull the SRT off the line."

Wow. First we get into it with the SRT-4 guys, then the Evo guys, then the GTI guys. >.<

I don't see whats wrong with the Cobalt's interior. I love it.

Where I forsee you guys getting into trouble is any course with turns, needs for acceleration and good hookup. It's german engineered, but but many germans like to go to the track on bracket racing night like most American enthusiasts? Germany, Nurburgring, that's their interpretation of racing. Americna muscle didn't have that in mind. Can you imagine a Nova trying to hammer around hairpins?

Some people don't see that both cars have significant benefits, instead of their usual thinking that the 1/4 mile is the end-all be-all of automobile supremacy.

But in defense for VW'ers.. Watch out for the up and coming R32, it'll give you guys a good run
We can't compete with the R32 Golf's! R32>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>. Cobalt (don't get my wrong. i am as loyal to the balt as it gets)

Oh i never doubt that. I like the leather interior. I honestly cannot STAND that plaid stuff. Looks kinda dumb to me. The rest is maximum pwnage though.

know this is a bit old, but i figured id bring it up. i registered here because i was seriously thinking about getting the ss/sc. i test drove it, liked it, looked into it alot on here. etc.
this one day driving by thr vw place i saw the new gti, so later i figured what the hell, ill give it a drive. i test drove that one and it stole my heart. i love hatches, for some reason. and yea, the balt is a bit faster, but i think 2nd gear the gti feels alot torqier than the balt. and it really kept to the road much better imo. and i really felt more comfortable in it. felt right. the balt was a bit plain for me, i dunno.
the numbers show the cobalt to be a little faster, the dsg gti is something like mid to high 14's stock from looking around, and the 6 spd is upper 14's, they make about 220 whp and over 250 w tq after just a chip. which isnt bad at all. and the torque curve on them is just a straigh line at 200 from like 1500rpm to 5000rpm. which feels crazy, you can be going 40 in 6th gear, punch it, and youll actually have power.

it sucked to see you all fighting on the mkv forums, both cars, are great, but in different ways, the balt is probably a slightly faster car with a bit more potential. but the mkv to me seemed like a more well rounded car. and a safer car, also important to me, ill give up a .3 of a sec. to not die in a wreck (10 airbags ftw)

chevy place keeps calling me about getting the balt, wonder how i break it to them that im in an mkv? lol.

also, i didnt think the interior is a bad as anyone makes it out to be. it was a bit plain, but i still liked it. and that supercharger almost gave me a boner.

if anyones around eastern nc, im down for a gti/balt cruse, were all family

well my balt is completely stock and i have a friend with a VW Revo stg 1 and all the way thru 3rd we r right next to each other, but when i throw 4th im gone, th3ere top end really sux. and whene he was stock, it was worst. I would pull on him by cars and cars and cars in mid 3rd. My cousin also had a mkV and the same thing. But now he traded it in and got a 07 Mustang and man those things dont play, he puts about 3 cars on me. My friend tells me when he goes to the VW meets every1 is always talking crap about our cars and he is always like "man u guys dont know wut ur talking about, those cars r fast" but no 1 believes him. O well

yea, the GTI seemed like it had alot more down low than up top. the motors are pretty tuned down when they send them here to the us. thats what the chips are for.

if you look in the "MKV vs.." section in the golfmkv forums someone just put a video of a stage 2 gti vs. a stage 2 balt.
its pretty much even, and the gti has a slight jump on the balt from a roll.

o and stage 2 for a gti is basicly an intake, exhaust, and tuning to match (chip)

They're good cars when they're tuned, I have much respect for the veedub nation. It's amazing how much torque they can squeeze out of those little 2 liter engines.

yea, alot of people are amazed when some with stage 2, turbo back, and intake only make about 230whp, but they dont realize they make about 270-280 wtq and over 300 at the crank. all from 1800rpm to over close to 6000 before it drops off.
