Cobalt SS vs many
So, me and my buddies headed out last night to go race...Me, with my SS, my friends brought the following - SRT-4, 05 Tiburon SE V6 version, moddified. Eclipse GSX pushing 250whp....
1st rnd - Cobalt SS v SRT - 4
I had one person in my car cause they wanted to ride along on a race..SRT-4 beat me a hair off the line, but I quickly caught up....I beat him by half a cars length
2nd Rnd - Cobalt SS vs SRT-4
I beat him off the line, won by a cars length...
3rd - SS vs Tiburon
Tiburon beats me off the line....damn that Traction Control....catch up through 3rd and pass him, car and a half...
4th - SS vs Tiburon
Same as rnd 3
5th - SS vs Eclipse GSX (AWD)
Beats me off the line hardcore....but I catch up, win by a bumpers length...
I've learned that with our car, its all about pushing it as close as you can to the rev limiter, and getting a good launch. I was kinda feeling down about my car, but now man...I love it....I've proven to my buddies that its VERY capable.

I am guessing SRT4 and GSX drivers had no clue how to drive....? Lets see some video, i understand the SS has some power, but beating an SRT4 by a car length?? I am going to have to raise the BS flag on this one until we see some video.

the GSX driver missed 3rd, the SRT-4 driver spun the tires off the line big time, plus hes not a very good driver.
I still say a kill is a kill.....I wish I had videos. I did leave out that the SRT-4 did beat me once, and the 2nd race with the GSX he beat me by a cars length.....

The SRT-4 is faster than the SS, so posting that you beat one should always be qualified. As for the modified cars, anything goes, becuase modification numbers vary according to tunning.

from all the actual races going on, it depends on the launch with a srt-4 vs. cobalt.
from a roll, we all know the outcome, but at a dig, im not surpised of a cobalt winning. like he said, he the guy cant launch, its a done deal.
was the srt stock?

Against an SRT-4 you have a huge advantage if the guy is not launching at an RPM thats going to Spool his Turbo adequately. Even if he launches high enough he needs to keep his turbo going once he gets moving. If he launches incorrectly and bogs, then you'll pull him. However, if you race for long enough he's going to pass you.
In any case, posting a kill and leaving out the defeats is BS. If you've got a story about an encounter its silly to leave out the bad. Although it can be painful to talk about your losses, its just the honorable thing to do. If you can't handle losses go get yourself an SUV.

Launching under boost only works with (on the street) Drag Radials or DOT slicks.

Instead people go out and run a car until they get the result their looking for, run home and make a post about it. Thats why kills sections are silly, becuase for the most part the video/story leave some major portions out. Like we ran 15 times, and I beat X car twice.
Another down side of kills sections are voided warranties. Trust me when I say this, coporations watch these sites, and if you ruin something on your car, and are a frequent kills poster, don't be suprised if they don't honor your warranty. I've seen that on other forums.

The biggest challenge an SRT-4 owner faces is launching the car hard without smoking the tires; the same could be said of Cobalt SS/SC owners.

The SRT-4 doesn't need RPM to keep the stock turbo spooled. IIRC, my car made ~5psi of boost @2000rpm and reached full boost (~20psi, modded, of course) before 2500rpm.
And feathering the clutch is one way to do it, but it also will wear out a clutch quickly if done alot. I preferred to rev to about 2500rpm, let the clutch out quickly, but not quite a "dump." Keeping the throttle in the same position until the car started to move, and then rolling into the throttle. I cut 2.0 60's on the stock tires using this method.

So are there people here are still to dim to understand that SRT-4's aren't 13 second street monsters.
It's a drivers race, even if a SRT-4 was rated to run a 13.9 and the Cobalt was rated to run a 14.3 that isn't anywhere close enough to consider one car dominant over the other. No a 12,9 car against a 13.9 car is another story.
I stick to picking on Tiburons in my Z24.
