yep the new ones with a 5-speed do. one of em hit a 13.7 or something like that recently with just bolt ons. that's the only reason i think its funny that 2.4 guys and the like are talking ****. This is a car that is faster stock and mod for mod...but i guess they can talk **** because its not a v8!

im not talking ****. i was just saying i raced one and beat it. then the mustang dude got all offensive and took it personally. hell i know my **** isnt fast, but i guess its up to par with a v6 mustang. which when comparing the two is pretty good.

Also, it's not really apples-to-apples to compare a 2000 Mustang that's totally streetable to a gutted CRX.
But either way, no car is the BEST platform for everyone. People simply have different preferences...
Honda vs. Ford vs. Chevy
RWD vs. FWD
Gutted vs. street-trim
N/A vs. F/I
... The list goes on.
Well, they're relatively comparable in price, and from there, each has different pro's and con's. It makes sense that they'd be fairly close in performance.

The problem I had with the 3.8 was when I had it there wasn't **** for it, the I got a 4.6 and found out that there are like 5 different builds of the 4.6 (2 Romeos and 3 Windsors I believe) and there is only an aftermarket for 2 of them. I unknowingly got one of the other 3, I gave up.

yea but not cobalts and look whos talkin the **** here....woops. id be the first one to tell you to just get the v8 and save yourself some trouble, but go to mustangforums and check out "fazm" he has a stock longblock daily driven v6 that traps about 120. the total money he has spent is just barely more than he would have spent getting a stock gt, and he's not exactly fearful of a stock gt. this guys friend was an idiot, stock v6's are SLOW, but they are the fastest new car for the cashola and a very good platform for modification dont kid yourselves.

the only mustangsd ive lost to at the track had blowers. no matter the year. oh yah, i did beat a 95 ISH cobraat the track, but he owned the car a week, and his second run in the car was against me. he was so bitter to find out i had a 4 cyl.

my buddy rented one last weekend and I drove it home from the bar....not impressed at all. I punched it, pedal to the floor the whole time, definetly slow as *****. The only fun I had was pulling into a parking lot to switch with another friend (he has a jeep, thought this thing would give him some speed to play with LOL), it was full of snow...I've never driven RWD before so I had a little fun with that, but definetly not a result of the car being a mustang. What a disappointment.

I sense you're right.. LOL.. If you've supercharged your 2.2 or something then i don't doubt it.. but if' you're a NA 2.2L Auto Cobalt then there's no way in hell you beat a 5.0 mustang unless he just didnt try. I had a 2.2 ecotec cavy.. I know they're slow as hell, LOL

i had an 88 lx 5.0 slightly modded ... catless exhaust, racing tranny, short throw, racing clutch.. i think that was it .. and i think it could keep up with a stock ss/sc .. once i get rid of all my points on my license im gunna get another one .. and plus you can only mod a ss/sc only so much you can do soooo much with a 5.0 mustang with out having to do major major work ... love emm

Gotta give the stang cred since it is the only muscle car still in production. Be careful when messing with them. However, when I first got the balt every mustang wanted to race me. Then one day I gave in and raced a stock 06 GT 5-speed from a dig. I only had my car a few months and only had the Injen CAI at the time and was running with the watershield on. A bunch of his friends drove behind us as witnesses to the race. They had Camaros, GTO's etc. I killed him on the launch. He didn't catch me until 100mph. Based on what I'm trapping in the 1/4, 100mph is more than 1/4. They all claimed that I won, even the Mustang. He since totalled the car and replaced the motor with an 03 Cobra engine so that he doesn't lose to another 4-banger. If I hadn't beat him on the launch I would have lost the race. I guess word got around this small town cause now only high end luxury cars with more power try to challenge me to a street race. The other day I was headed to my mom's house with my wife and dog in the car and a V8 Audi S4 tried to get me to race him on the freeway. I let him go.
