Dodge Stealth vs. My SS

This was a terrible mismatch.

(He is my friend that always thinks that his car is wayyyy fast. He works with me too).

So we are going back home from work, and I see him hit it, I let him get his back tires at my car before I drop to second and hit it. I took off till I hit Limiter than shifted and I was gone till 105 by that time I was 3-4 car lengths in front of him. It was nice and fun.

My buddy just got a 93 stealth R/T and can't wait to race him when the snows gone. 222hp 3.0 V6 should be a decent match

Take in account there around 4000lbs....At the Track in Ohio I went to one guy would do bracket racing with one. It was mostly stock he had K&N Drop in filter/ plugs and wires. He always ran high 16's...consistant 16.8 to be exact.

I always thought they were heavy but according to a few web sites they aren't that much heavier 3064 lbs

http://auto.consumerguide.com/Auto/U...arreviewspecs/

Also, my buddy's stealth is not turbo, so if their weight is similar and simlar hp with both being FWD shoud be a good race.

p7x: you will own him!!!! it weighs more than 3000 pounds but still a lot less than 4000. not many of the non turbo models even break 15's without more than bolt-ons.

You are smoking crack. A TT R/T or 3000GT VR4 would straight up eat the hell out of a stock SS not just "pull slowly". Especially from the highway. Put down the pipe.

actually it depends on the year of build ... not sure if anyone remembers but I made a post about it in the past as I used to own a 3000gt ... the first 2 gen vr-4's were mid 14's at best the third gen was low 14's at best and the last year (99) was a high 13's kinda guy. The early gens sucked (in relation to all years) because of their turbo's small sizes and overall design not allowing for much power on the top end ... they were low to mid range beasts. The 99 was just a monster all around.

So having said that it is easy to say that an ss can beat a vr-4 of the earlier gens even on the highway (stock for stock). The problem now is aftermarket parts ... there are a few people that have 800~1000+ hp vr-4's simply by putting in bigger more effecient turbo's and larger better cooling intercoolers.

Either way it will be a fun race. And he's gonna hate me when i get stage 2 unless he gets TT's then once again it will be interesting.

the only way he is getting a TT is by purchasing a new complete engine ... you will beat him by the way although he may get a jump on you if you spin the wheels but don't worry you will most likely still win unless you can't drive very well

edit: there are many that have done the TT drop into the regular base or SL model but the benefits are small when it's all said and done ... the best he can do is a custom turbo install which will increase his power quite a bit but the stage 2 should still get him

I raced a 3000gt SL not to sure on what year it was. Anyways we were rolling at around 40mph, and we both hit it at the same time, I immediately started to pull him not sure how fast we got up to cuz I was stunned that his front end was at my rear bumper. Now this is with my 2.4 automatic.

that's def. possible. like i said. the base models aren't quick at all, even with bolt-onz. they need FI bad!!! but the TT's are hella fast! especially from a dig!

If he does anything he'll probly go with a single turbo but why the new engine. Aren't the R/T and R/T TT engine the same 3.0 V6???

yes but without the forged internals to hold a lot of boost and without the high flow injectors and fuel pump and without a lot of necessary things but it is possible to turbo them.
