Mod for Mod, as of right now my vote is Evo. Stock for stock the SS might have it because they don't have the drivetrain loss the Evo does....
The day a SS/TC does this, I will be amazed....

im going to be honest stock vs stock i think it would be a drivers race but since the tc is so new mod vs mod evo will win and ams has some evos at like 1000 hp so still mod vs mod evo will win

Evo. The IX responds very well to bolt ons and is quite quick stock. From a roll it might be close stock, i'm not really sure, but once you start modding it's over. tune/exhaust = 300whp for the evo. Way better launches, similar weight, so close from a roll to the bolt on turbo's i've seen, like 300whp too right? After that the gap will get bigger. other bolt ons = 330-340whp. Cams = near 400. swap the turbo and you're lookin at a lot more. Stock for stock it wouldn't even be a race from a dig, but a roll might make it close.

A stock evo is bottled up from the factory pretty good. Stock/Stock from a roll could be a dead heat most of the time. Mod/Mod, there is no comparison, Evo all day long.
The thing that is funny about vid is he is running a Buschur exhaust But seriously, the 2.3 RR from AMS is a beast. Something about a 2.3 stroker engine in an evo reving to 9000 rpm safely just makes me giggle.

Stock vs. Stock = Evo
14.0 vs. 13.5 = No brainer
Mod vs. Mod = Evo
Refer to stock vs stock. If hypothetically they are being modded equally, the car that started as faster will be faster. Not to mention the SS/TC will stop getting faster at some point because it's front wheel drive.

Not to throw a curve ball here but if you consider more than just 1/8 and 1/4 that is the only place the EVO would be quicker not faster. From any roll the TC will walk all over a EVO of any number and top out well below a SS/SC or SS/TC.
I guess I look at the big picture befor I call one car faster than the other.

times are a good point. but go to the track and watch people with evos and sti's and tell me what they run cause i see them in mid 14's all day at atco. not saying all are like that just saying most people cant drive them

You missed an important factor though regarding the 1/4 mile times listed. What are the traps of each? A stock Evo 9 will run it down at about 100-103 mph on average. The new TC will trap around the same. So Stock/Stock the Evo is not or may not be that much faster if at all.
And being a car enthusiast I'm sure you know that in 1/4 racing.......a half a second is significant.

trap speed doesn't change the 13.5 ET. How is it not faster. It doesn't matter if it's ET is 30mph. I don't know what the physics are that govern trap speed, all i know is 13.5 is .5 seconds faster than 14.0 at any altitude, any trap speed, and in any language.

You are right about that. But look at it like this, it takes 13.5 seconds to get from point A to point B, while it takes another car 14.0. That tells how quick it cant get between the 2. But a trap speed will tell how fast you are going and how much power you are putting down. Take my Evo for example - if stock i ran a 13.5 at 101mph, but then after i modded it, i ran a 12.9 at 113, i only lost 6 tenths of a second, but gained 11mph. Id rather have that. I might suck off the line, but my trap shows the potential of the car. If i ran my stock car vs my modded car out on the highway, i would absolutely destroy it. Yet, look at the 1/4 mile times of the car and you wouldnt think it would be as much of an annihilation because of the 6 tenths difference. Traps = power = speed. Not a designated time.
1/4 mile times I give to the Evo, though.
Lap times, I don't know.
Modding, I have to give to the Evo because they are AWD and will plateau way after the TC will because of front wheel drive.
Both great cars. But the FWD platform is a biatch to make fast --> no traction...lol.

i would get a evo all the way , even if the evo lost to the ss/tc stock all he would need is a 50 dollar boost controller and up the boost by 3 psi and he would be pulling the tc stock.

Lets not fool anyone here.
The EVO is stronger in everyway vs the cobalt hands down. Mid to low 13's stock vs low 14's in the SS/TC. Tune, injectors and bolt ons can net tons more power than the SS/TC would with the same parts.
not to mention an unparalled aftermarket for the EVO. The EVO is debatably the strongest tuner on the market.
and its itty bitty turbo...

From a dig the EVO thanks to AWD. From a roll I would hope the TC! A stock EVO from a roll ain't ****!
*EDIT* Just saw the EVO 9 part. Sorry I was speaking of the EVO X.
