finally happened- Ran a Tundra

This is a long read...but I tried to be as accurate as possible..

I ran home to get some food for lunch. I was in a hurry because I live about 15-20 minutes away from work. Well anyway I was turning out of my neighborhood and gave it a little gas on the straight away when I saw a new Tundra turning out of the 2nd entrance from my neighborhood. I had my phone in hand and decided to snap a picture of it since I haven't seen too many on the road. Well he either saw me take the picture or heard my exhaust rumbling because as soon as I passed him he turned out of the neighborhood and came flying up behind me in a hurry! The road is only one way, and this guy is on my butt..so I start speeding up some more...and so does he.

So I figure this guy's intention is to get me on a 2 lane road so I oblige. I turn onto the main road heading for I-45 and keeping the truck in 1st gear @ 30mph, he comes rolling up staring right at me. He punches it first, I follow suit. No lying here, he got me probably by about two trucks..but then again, he did get a nice jump. So with my ego hurt I decided to see if he would go from a dig. There is hardly any traffic around at this time and we both hit the next light. I pull up and he greets me with a few revs through his stock exhaust, and to my amazement he points at the light, then points ahead...egging me to run him. This guy looks like he's in his late 40's! I stall up to about 1,300 rpms and leave it in 1st. As the light turns yellow on the other side he starts inching up. Boom, the light turned green and we both took off. We both spun pretty badly, I'm not sure if it was the weight difference but I pulled him pretty good up..probably about a truck and a half. We hit another light and he rolled down his window.

I was thinking he was going to give an excuse but he was pretty cool. He asked which motor was in the truck and said he has an 01 Arctic white C5 in the garage. The truck was bought two weeks ago from Fred Haas Toyota and has about 1,000 miles on it. He was going to say something else but the light turned green so he ended up just nodding his head and driving off. He didn't say whether or not he lived in the neighborhood, but I'll keep an eye out for him. Here is the pic:

good run. That's a nice truck you've got. I'm sure that Tundra driver was surprised.

Thanks guys, it was a 5.7l double cab Tundra, bone stock of course.

My truck is a 5.3l w/ a tune and corsa catback...my best ET to date is 14.6 @ 99mph

They are definitely a stout truck, if it was a regular cab with the 5.7l I have no doubt he would have eaten my lunch lol.

I want a rematch when the new motor goes in.

Wow, that's stout! 380hp, so it makes sense.
