So if anyone remembers I had a thread about month and a half ago asking how my car would race against my buddies GTP with following mods:

2000 GTP with per shift.(helps alot)
Headers
3 inch dp with u-bend delete
Res delete
180* thermostat
Auto light 104s
Short Dog bones
3.4 mps
wizair intake with 4 inch k&n
zzp pcm 1.0 with slight street retune.

My mods:
2.9
intake
TTR motor mount
Tranny mounts
gmpp header
catless 2.5 downpipe
2 stage colder plugs
tune

He had car dynoed today at SMG Motoring ( supporting vendor ) in hopedale Mass.
I think give or take 1-2 hp/tq it was about 218hp 222 tq.

I wasnt going to race him as its not my thing anymore, plus i never drive my car, but he kept egging me on and finally I caved. lol.

So we had to pick up my GF to go to a car show, we get on the highway and im like ah hopefully there will be too much traffic to do anything, we get off the onramp and its wide open. Im like great. But whatever happens happens.

I go to 40 and hold it, he pulls up, I tell him honk and we go. I pulled about 4 1/2 cars on him and was slightly pulling away after that till 130ish when we shut down.



So we cruise another 5 miles or so down the highway and he pulls up again. I match his speed which was right about 50mph which was his sweet spot and he honks again. This time I only pulled about 2 2 1/2 cars on him with him hanging on a little better. I was happy with the outcome as he only comes around 1-2 times a year and that gives me a whole nother year to bust his chops about it lol.

He has race one on video which I think he will send to me tommorow.

i wanna race my buddy's '01 bullitt, but i think he'd actually win that one judging by power. i think i'm the better drive, so with that in mind, i think i could actually take him. he wants to get dyno'ed at smg so we can really compare our numbers. he got tuned on a dyno that typically reads real low, and he was around 250hp 283tq i think.

next time your buddy comes up, tell him i'll have a go. lol. but yeah, somewhat low power numbers, but was still a pretty sweet car. i always liked those grand prix's. did the leak go away by any chance?

Thats what he said, when fred read the numbers he was just astonished in shock. hes like wow that should be another 20 maybe 25 hp / tq higher. He was just shocked all day couldnt believe it. it was what it was tho. His car does look sweet ill give him that for sure tho. Next time hes down I dont think itll be in that car, itll probably be in his flat black GT GP lol.

my buddy was hoping for around 285 tqish. he just txted me this morning hes still in shock lol. he said first 3k and the car is gone lol.

yeah those arent great numbers for a GTP with those mods. their torque is usually much much better. maybe his tune is off.

Fred was looking at his dyno graph and saying mid to top the tune looks WICKED safe. like 10.5 a/f safe lol. Plus it was street tuned and not dyno tuned

Does he still want to run my Regal? As I said before his car isn't a 13.4 car at all, not even close.

With the outcome of this race, running me would just be even worse for him.

my son has 04 gtp and all stock. and it is very slow. he took it to the track the other day for test and tune and pulled a 15.0 flat. he said he was not suprised. his car will not do a burnout. he has found out that by putting in a good size cam and headers, and a good burned in tune. his car would produce around 300 frhp, as some in okc are already doing. but the stock tranny will not hold and go bad after a few runs. he also said that going with a turbo will have a much better affect on his 3.8 as the turbo did on the cobalts.

gtp's are dig cars... do a dig it will be a different story if he can drive... my boy pulls 1.8 60 ft's in his gtp and runs 13.5's with similar mods... i guess better tune also. from a dig ill get him by a car at the end of the quarter mile... on a roll ill get him by 3-4 cars...

but off the line he rapes me lol

little late slow sho he has been trying to get ahold of you for last couple weeks. plus i know my car is mid 13s all day i raced my buddys comp g and he ran a 14 flat and from a stop i wasted him bad and he said there was nothing wrong with his car it ran the same as it did when he ran 14. and also slow sho i would hope you would beat me you lie about your mods im not stupid if you car has less mods than me how in the hell would you even think you could win and yes there is something wrong i should not have dynoed at 221whp 239tq thats alittle low for what i got done.

What was with the dyno pulls? It looked like they did not do full throttle till the last 2K rpms?

If it only made those numbers I would be VERY upset w/ the smaller pulley installed.

240hp/280tq where the factory numbers. I had a 97gtp a few years ago (purchased it in 98). Stock that car was 192hp and I do not remember the torque numbers, but if I had to guess 230's would sound about right. With just a few bolt on the car was up to 350wtq but that is where I ran into trouble w/ trannies......3 of them lol. After that I sold the car and went to A4's...But was my first "performance Sedan" and I havent had anything but sense...Was a nice car (was my 3rd GP)

The car dynoed what it dynoed. Is it what he expected? No, is it what I thought it would put down? no. Is it Freds dynos fault? No. It has 130k miles on it, maybe its tired, maybe the super humid 95 degree day had something to do with it, maybe theres a hidden problem he has not seen yet with the car. There is deffinitly things it could be and could not be.

when did fred get a dyno????? I dont remember that being there last oct at the meet. I havent done anything to my car since that dynoday last oct at outlaw...If reads lower than the 223 I put down...then it diffenately reads lower
