First Race
Okay so I know this is in no way an even match up or even really that impressive but I've only had the car 3 1/2 months [consequently I've only been driving stick for 3 1/2 months] so please don't make too much fun of me, I don't even know how to launch at a light and I pretty much shift like an amateur (though smoother and smoother each day).
Record: 1 - 0 - 0
Anyway the first race was a fun one and I didn't instigate it either but I sure as **** accepted the challenge. It was last Tuesday night (wet conditions on the roads so not the smartest of ideas) and I was going Pelham Parkway West to I-95 South (nice, steep, 270° turn onramp) and I was originally behind a friend in a Dodge Ram (with a V8 Hemi) and this tool in a 5th gen Honda Accord (changed lights & hood acting cool) was actually trying to challenge the Ram. Well we got onto I95S in this order, Ram, Accord, Me. So the Accord yanked to an open lane and gunned the engine while the Ram literally pulled away and my friend wasn't even on it either. So I was in 3rd getting on the parkway at maybe 30 mph so obviously I should have been in second but what did it matter. I pushed down on the pedal enough to get the boost up to +5 psi and just pulled away from him. I think I shifted into 4th somewhere around 55/60 mph and by then I was way ahead of him. By the time I got into 5th I couldn't even see him anymore and I stopped accelerating at 80 mph and let the car slow itself down after that point.
So even though it's not even close to an even match up I'm still holding it as a victory no matter how lame.
As a side note, Thursday morning coming in from Lindenhurst, LI some tool in a suped up Civic (maybe I think) got on my ass like he wanted to race me but it was too early to deal with that nonsense. He tried to get in front of me a few times but failed pretty miserably and I was just driving normally. Once I get good enough at shifting that you don't feel me doing it anymore then I'm going to have much more fun (well that and once they fix the rear subframe [out of spec so new hub/bearing and subframe but dealer will be paying for that]).

Not sure what this has to do with anything.
I don't even really know squat about takeoff speed or anything to that effect this is my first stick car. I played around a few times racing with my previous car here and there, it was a '96 Monte Carlo LS and that wasn't a car meant for racing though it cruised great.

Aside from neutral to first I'm pretty good (for a newbie) and I haven't thrown it into 3rd at a toll booth in a while (my mind ignored 2nd a few times). It's fun...
