not all sho's have a v8s, my parents have a 91 with a 6 cylinder. they got it when i was a child, not sure what sho stands for though my parents told me that the dealer told them it stood for Super Horsepower Output, but who knows.

Well to answer your question Guardian, Its not like a normal taurus...Super High Output...People are giving it props because its pretty quick for a FORD plus it is definitely a sleeper...It's not as special as a Cobalt of course lol but its not bad at all

1/4 times for stock 5spd's were 14.5-14.8 @ 95-96. With minor mods (ypipe) mine went 14.3 @ 98.
The main issue with the SHO's are that they are getting really old and many have 200k+ miles. Are neglected and beat, thats why in 1 thread you have a modded SS/SC saying they ran dead even, and a 2.2 saying the SHO only got a car on it, plus the auto's aren't that quick.

The v8's never came stick, and the 89-95 3.0 5spd v6 was far and away the fastest version of the SHO.

Mods are in my garage.
Honestly, I could not believe how fast this car was. My buddies behind me said he had black smoke pouring out of his exhaust. Maybe sprayed or blown? IDK. They come like 220 stock. It looked like an early 90's model.
I see the car following me as I am about to get on the interstate with no intentions to race, just to head home from cruising..
First race we went from a 70 kick (I know, a little fast, but I wasn't expecting it to actually be a 'race', i figured id blow him outta the water and be done with it). We both punched it at the exact same time. I put like 1/2 car on him, and that was it. Dead even til about 100mph.
Second race we went from like a 50 kick. I was in the TOP of 2nd gear. Hoping to get a jump out on him (I love 2nd gear. lol). We kicked it again at the same time. Dead even. Didn't pull any or loose any. I was VERY impressed. IDK his mods, but he had to have something done to that car, thats for sure!
Opinions?

As for a highly modded SHO, yea they can be fast. There are some in the 10s, but they are modded heavy.

My 1990 stang was completely stock.....maybe aftermarket rims....and the SHO could never touch the stang...so I would never in my wildest dreams claim the SHO was "much faster"....we only ramrodded around town, not at the dragstrip or anything.....but the SHO did have 125,000 miles or something.....real bad traction...the tranny felt weak....it was a heavy 4-door.....v-6 5-speed... I never knew the SHO came with a v-8....so, I had the fastest one, a 1989 model?? Maybe I should have kept that car?? It was ok looking, not great...but that engine just looked real cool....

I don't care what anyone says in this thread. The Ford Taurus SHO was slow as *****. The fastest year was 1989 Ford Taurus SHO. It ran 15.2 1/4th mile and 6.6 0-60 times. If anyone thinks that fast by any means there is something wrong. Put in a good driver and exhaust, headers and you will be lucky to run 14.8. My stock cobalt ran 14.2 @ 100mph and that is plenty enough to destory a SHO. But look, I'm not here to talk about cobalts being faster then a SHO, I'm here to put these guys in check who think they ran mid to low 14s with a SHO stock. Did not happen.

so if you ran a 14.2 stock, what do you run after stage II, downpipe, aftermarket clutch/flywheel, upgraded axles, and GMPP manifold and exhaust?? Just curious to see where I could be at with similar mods....

RC is wrong, my buddy owned one and the car had *****. His ran 14.5 with just a CAI and exhaust and he was by no means the best driver. There was also a SHO meet at the track I go to one weekend and there was proly 15-20 SHOs there. One guy in an 89 with 120k+ miles on it, had just DRs and went 14.3s.
