In all reality a well running SHO is a good fight for a stock SS/SC. Which isn't saying much in the grand scheme of things. The impressive factor is that the engine was built in 1988.

Correct me if I'm wrong...

Up to 95 (the older body style) SHO's had the V6 and could be had with a 5spd

The 96 and up (rounded body style) had the V8 and auto

Just to clarify if you come across one what you are up against.

The V6 was 220 hp I believe, and V8 like... 234 or something like that.

Im not sure what the hp ratings were and I think you could get a 5spd in the V8s but I know the V6 was the one to get. They were much quicker than the V8.

1989-1991 Gen 1 SHO
220hp 200tq 3.0 V6
5spd only, no auto's

1992-1995 Gen 2 SHO
220hp 200tq 3.0 V6
220hp 215tq 3.2 V6 (auto)
5spd only for 1992 93-95 optional auto

Timeslip of two bone stock SHO's a gen 1(right lane) and a gen 2 (left lane). Notice the 60's 2.4 and 2.5 and both still ran 14's.

1996-1999 Gen 3 SHO
235hp 3.4 V8 auto only

Here's a near stock (just intake I believe) SHO going 14.5 @ 98. I could find more video's like this, there's one of a stock 89 going 14.4 @ 98 and a stock 95 doing 14.5 @ 96.

Just to dispell any rumors/confusion. Those are spread to due SHOs being old and not taken care of.
