well I met up with a friend to race his stock EVO 9 SE to see how I would do and damn I didn't think these things were this fast stock. We line up at 40 and go and by me hitting 145 he had probably a bus on me. I dont understand it!? Everyone is talking about beating stock evo's all the time and i have some pretty decent mods and I just got raped by a stock one . WTF!?

Weird man. We are pretty much in the same ball park with mods and I have beat up 2 stock Evos. They weren't bad drivers either so are you sure it was stock?
I don't know man. I have trouble with moded Evos.

Uh, I haven't heard of anyone beating an Evo unless the Evo driver didn't know how to drive would be the only way that would happen! Yeah they are damn fast man!

he said it only had 1000 miles on it. I have beaten evo's and sti's before this. Down here people tend to lie about there mods so i really dont know if he was bsing me.

I think he may have had a boost controller bc i didnt see inside his car and it looked all stock on the outside.

Bro like I said. I along with others on here have beat Evos. I don't make **** up, trust.

I have had problems with moded Evos. Even just exhaust. Wakes them right up.

So yeah stock Evos can get beat even with a decent driver.

Did you see the engine compartment? You can't realy see much from the outside of the car.

yeah especially from a roll, just intake and exhaust on the cobalt can liven it up enough to hang with a stock evo or sti.

No I was waiting for him and we just rolled out as soon as he got there. It sounded like he had an intake bc his turbo was really loud.

I don't know man, but his car was moving. Down here in SFL people tend to lie about there mods alot telling everyone that their stock this beat a modded blah blah blah bs

What do you think is going on? All it takes is an exhaust, boost controller, and flash to do that on a IX. There are other things you can do, but that's all that is required to open it up. If you want the swoosh sound, you get an intake or cone filter, but doesn't make too much difference in whp. A fuel pump will ensure you don't run lean when your gas tank is low, but the stock IX fuel pump flows just fine. Nothing else really needed on a IX and you will make 305-310 on a Mustang dyno - 330-335 on a Dynojet. The IX really is a different animal from a VIII.

Everyone on here talks about beating stock Evos...Very possible from the famous 40 mph roll, but more difficult with a IX. Not to mention that of all the Evos in my area, I know of 1 that is still stock, and yes it does get killed from a roll.

I will say that I agree with the OP that lying about mods is ridiculous. If you lie and win it's not going to be satisfying. If you lie and say you are stock and you aren't and then still lose, you are going to be too embarrassed to say what you have done LOL

I've beaten 2 and lost to one (the 2 i beat were stock, and the one I lost to was modded. All races from a roll).

My best friends Evo IX with a MBC, 3" exhaust, and flash ran 12.01 @ 109mph (I believe...I could be wrong on the mph). They go fast very easy.

damn i want an evo now 3 mods and a 12.01 thats ridiculous makes me want to stop modding and start saving for an evo 9

I agree that they can be quick with some small mods, that's what happens when your vehicle is F/I such as ours. I had my first run in with a modded Evo, not much of a race but, I was going around some traffic and got on it, as did he and he started to very slowly reel me in. I know for sure he had at least an exhaust cause he did the import fly-by after I let off around 120mph..
