A properly tuned 1.8 T is no joke.

This kid is lieing to you. VW never made a special edition in 01 and for him to swap a 3.2 liter in it means that he has money and not just alittle. The parts alone for that are 10k plus the labor. you need to cut out the trunk floor, weil an new one in. make. it not something any old person can do. And that motor isnt turboed so there isnt a need of a down pipe or Blow valve (which on a vw isnt what you put on) you install a DV.

i would say if it was true about there being a SE gti 1.8t it would be the 225hp 1.8t Motor. but i dont think they ever did that unless it was a swap. i think the kids just BS'n you bro

I came from a VW and my mom owned a VW dealership. Yoe dont swap the 225hp motor into a gti there is no performance gains. yes it says 225 but you are losing that in the awd system. you can dyno the two car (180hp gti and 225 TT) ad there will be hp out of the gti.

not every audi TT has quattro... alot of them are just FWD.

he said he beat the same red ss/sc by 2 lenghts ..same as me idk i think it might just be the 225hp motor but i could be wrong

and its the 1.8t motor with im guessing the 250hp rating?

well that would be 250 at the crank. with every bolt on to a VW you can only see 210 at most. but youll see alot of torque.

Couple scenarios i can think of. First i thought the VR6 motor was put into a GTI but it was the 2.8L. Second, if its a stock turbo GTI, it has a 1.8t w/180 hp. If he swapped an Audi TT 1.8t there were 2 versions - the AWD 1.8t with 225hp and the FWD 1.8t with 180 hp. Bottom line with any of these scenerios is unless he has anything APR you will beat him but it will be a good race. If he has anything from APR under his hood he walks you hard.

let me clear things up here it It is a 2002 Sliver GTI 337 edition, it has the audi 1.8T motor spec and therefore it is higher hp than the original 1.8T that is in the standard gti. The only things he has done performance wise is a 2.5inch dp connecected to the factory 2.25inch exhaust with the rear muffler cut out. He has a turbo xs Rbv-25 bov, a abd Cai, and an abd vw specific electronic boost controller, which doesnt even work properly. cosmetic wise its sexy as hell. and yes it did beat a red ss by 2 lenghts i, was in the car when it happened i think the kid needed a driver mod to begin with but i also think his car is beat bc i test drove it 2wice at the dealership it was at before he bought it. By no means am i trashing anyone on here but yes they did make a quick gti for 1 year, it was the german 337 and the U.S.'s 20th edition version
Here is his car

According to the interzweb, a 337 has a 1.8t with 180hp and a broad tq curve with a 6spd and recaros and weighs like 2850lbs. I stand by my statement - no apr = u win, apr = u get it handed to you.

I've only raced 1 gti in my lifetime. it was a stock(probably) 06. i put a bus on him by the end of second in my old cobalt (from a dig) not really a fair race considering that weekend i ran a 13.6 and he was in a 15.0 stock gti

If he lost from a 40 roll... I don't think the 20 roll is gonna make any difference.
