Gto
I just got owned by a GTO. Techinally I wasn't 'racing' but even had i dropped the clutch and made an effort this dudes GTO would of eaten me up. i never much cared for the GTO until last night, they sound like beasts.
any of you who have a GTO -- enjoy, i partially envy you

who cares if he was modded, the GTO is a beast. If you have to be modded to beat a stock car, that doesnt make your car better. slap a blower on the GTO and you've got a car that I should have purchased.

^^^^ that was more or less the point of me typing up this thread. to point out for those who are in the darkness on this subject --- the goat is a beast, hands down. <- and not because he beat me, but because they just are!

I love the GTO 6.0 in orange. Anyway, what does it take to beat a stock LS2 GTO? Stage II, 2.7 pulley, exhaust, headers, intake, 60 pound injectors, BFG Goodwrench KDW IIs, and 150 pound weight reduction should put you close right?

I'm 2.5" pullied with bolt-ons and meth injection. I raced a 6.0 GTO, and killed it. I also work at a dealership, and have driven them back to back (my car and a stock 6.0). Everyone that's ridden in both cars agrees that a stock one would be no match for my car. However, we're talking about a stock GTO vs a pretty modded LSJ. GTO's can easily be made much faster, much easier.

Alas, the american market isn't what it was back in the 50's, 60's, and early 70's. Marketing has went down the *******, and performance has been sacraficed. Hopefully a turn-around will come about with the introduction of the new Camaro, Challanger, GTO, etc. The domestic market also needs to market the **** out of these new cars with perhaps some retro advertising since the cars appearance are going retro.
Imagine, a renactment of the GTO endura bumper ad of the late 60's with the crow-bar...
Whatever happened to ads like this? The domestic market needs to get people excited about whats coming out, or else they are going to **** themselves over. Oh well....

I guess after owning a SS/SC then my GTO I can say this is untrue.
I bought my GTO with 16miles on it, it was completely gutless and sometimes felt like my SS/SC was fatser.
Now with only 800miles it has alot more power and most say it will free up even more by 3,000miles or so.
So your car may feel faster than a showroom fresh GTO but most likely it's just that the GTO needs some miles on it.
