How many will this one go?lol
I have seen some good arguements from everyside, just that fast in a straight line isn't everything.
The mullet generation IROC drivers and 5.ohs have migrated to the gto crew.

Not bad I've had 2 GTO's 05' and 06'
Well I took the GTO outta storage for a few days under unfortunate circumstances but I got a run last night.
A few of us headed to Foxwoods last night among the group was a SS/TC with a turboback exhaust and a tune. We lined up from 40. Neck and neck in 2nd gear, shifted at 70 and started to move out, by fourth gear ~100 it was 2+ cars. We had a lot of highway I stretched it out to about 130 and by then it had gotten pretty ugly between 7-10 carlenths, once we got up passed 100 I started to run away with it. I was suprised he hung for a gear or so though.
Next was a C6, 2005 auto. We also ran from a 40 roll. This race "seemed" easier than the race vs the SS/TC only because I started moving out on him sooner. He started in gear so there was no downshift but I immediately starting yankin on him. The pull was slow and steady, from 40 to ~140 it was a 4-5 car difference. I'da taken it to 180 or so but street races just don't go that high.

My tune and K&N drop-in only SS\TC can stay dead even with my buddies 06' 389 rwhp M6 GTO from a DIG to 130 then he SLOWLY starts to pull away ( more HP of course)...... It used to be my GTO... he de-modded it in the form of a different but stock intake manifold losing 10-12 rwhp.. When I sold it to him I had one of about 15 --- 400 whp bolt-on only goats in the US. So, what mods do you have on the goat? it'd better have a cam to put down the power needed to spank the new SS\TC ... It also had better be a 2005 or 06' model because I've beaten a older less powerful 2004 LS1 with a cam and bolt-ons and he only made 373 rwhp... and beat a few mildly bolt-on modded LS2 05'-06' GTO's (375-405 rwhp) from my old goat community that I hung with. A nicely cammed, bolt-on LS2 05'-05; can have anywhere from 425 rwhp to 465 rwhp if tuned well, small cam on the low end of the pwr spectum....
My friends in the GTO group never thought a Cobalt of any kind could hang let alone beat them.....
Nicely done though.....
The GTO's are alright but they dont hook up for diddly and get 24 on the hwy... they have weak under rated rear-ends in them so adding 50+ hp in mods is a risk unless the rear is upgraded and the axles are weak too....
Other than that .. and the GTO M6 is 3725 lbs full fluids, the automatic (A4) is 3810 lbs... Get the M6 if you want to enjoy the car.......get the A4 if your plans are to drive like grand ma.....
Totally stock... The A4 (automatic) GTO would loose a race against a stock SS\TC till about 95-100 mph when the ultimate hp of the GTO takes over and makes the pass.... M6 GTO 100% stock VS. a 100% stock SS\TC: the GTO would have a smack-down party on the TC...
I got the SS for the 24-26 city mpg I'm getting versus the 24 mpg why of the goat.....

A). You must have at least 415 rwhp to put that many car-lengths on a tune and exhaust SS\TC.. and the top speed govenor removed.. It takes a gto about that much RWHP to run 180, as a stock LS2 (2005-06) gto ungoverned will do about 170-174....

This post has so much horrible missinformation and terrible opinions that it should be deleted ASAP.

An SS/TC is a high 13 second car. A GTO is a low 13 Second car. a 389 WHP GTO would crush an SS/TC.

Thats what I mean, lol. My car made 385whp and this exhaust/tune T/C had no chance in hell. I mean he hung in 2nd gear but I think he stole the hit. That car wouldn't run any better than ~106mph traps which is quick but definately got a mudhole stomped.

Well your pnp tb isn't doin much with your mods, I've got catless mids thats a given with any LT car, cat or catted, and the stock catback is basically the same as having an aftermarket one.
How much timing do you run at WOT?

Ok, i'm not reading 300+ posts of GTO nut swinging, but i'm wondering, are auto C6's that much slower than MT ones? If so, thats ******* sad. I guess the earlier 4 speed autos could be, but the 6 speed auto's should be damn near the same. IF that is the case, BS on the GTO pulling at all, with no real mods.
