95% of people on this and every other board have done it... even if it isnt a very smart thing to do, that looked like an ok place... no traffic where they could hurt someone else .

keep in mind guys you are viewing this through a video camera which is prolly not even half the quality of the actual amount of visibility

True...

Some would argue that it's easier to see other cars at night than during the day too...which suggests that at night, it's not only easier to avoid hitting another car if you are moving fast, but also that other cars are less likely to pull into your path as they can see YOUR headlights very easily. Of course, that all don't mean JACK unless it's a long, level, straight road, which is essentially all we have here in the FlatLands!

I suppose the deed is done already. Just hope they are smarter about it next time.

Could be, but I think I'm safe in saying visibility was poor.

I'm from Winnipeg, no hills anywhere around here ether. Problem isn't other cars though, could be animals, people, something on the road. Other cars aren't the only things that cause accidents.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to see the it was a quick car but I don't give props to people who put them selves in dangerous situations like that. Be a little smarter about it next time is all I ask.

I'd seem mighty hypocritical if I din't also bring up my distaste of Nick Hogan's recent street-racing debacle. So if anyone whos seen that thread is wondering about my true feelings...no, I am not a fan of street racing, but I know it happens, and I save my derision of it for when the poop hits the fan like it did in Nick's case. Two-faced? MMM, kay. You got me! But while Nick's deal was a case of layer upon layer of stupidity, this one is considerably more innocuous.

So, yes, Harmigula...you are right. Yet...this can only devolve to pissing match status if it continues. I'd like to get the thread back to its real original intention, which was not to glorify fast street cars racing, but to compare the performance of our beloved Cobalt against something seemingly much more potent!

The stall helps out the GTO like I said before but form a roll a cammed M6 is gonna be rough to beat. Most of the M6 guys use larger cams as well, that mixed with lower drivetrain loss makes a mean roll car. I am hoping to trap 118 this year.
Totally AGREE with you buddy the M6 GTO is NASTY from a Roll, its has the same trans gearing as my 03 z06 and let me tell you its pulls its a$$ off from a roll. way better then any a4 gto. When i first got my 06 A4 i raced my buddy who has a 05 gto m6 we where both stock i had im all the way into 3rd gear by about half a car after that a whole diff story when he went in to 4th he started to pull away. but as for now his car is still stock so its the other way around now Most M6 guys run way bigger cams as well so watch out!

I agree but I had no tail lights in front of me so I could see the whole road just fine.

Good race, but you definitely killed yourself like someone else already stated. You could have easily been in front of the GTO if you started in 2nd gear @ 40mph and brake boosted to add further insult to injury. Brake boosting wins roll races because it's easier to stay ahead once you have a few car lengths on someone to start.

Next time, heh...sleeper's learning, and this time around, his limping clutch would not have been up to the task. With the new clutch and some 20-ish PSI boost, this will be a whole new ballgame!

Oh, I know all too well. My 16g Integra does it all the time. With it's new clutch and EVO III 16g it received, it's pretty much game over for those unsuspecting people.
