I finally found an SRT-8
The SRT-8 Charger has a bigger displacement in it, and opposed to the 340/390 output the r/t's have, the srt-8 has 425/420 output.
I've been wanting to race one ever since I've had my Intense Stage 3 put on. And I've been continually teased because I normally always see one going to work, but never get a chance to get next to him.
Not this morning. Side by side we were rolling around 50 or so and we sat side by side, no one pulling whatsoever. Only raced up to 100 or so but I never got a formal race out of the guy. Regardless, I hung absolutely side by side with the guy. It was beautiful.
So everyone knows, all SRT-8's are auto w/tiptronic controls that shift for you either way at redline. Who knows where he was in his gear, but...
I hung right next to him. He rolls his window down. It's the typical midlife crisis 40 year old. "What is that?" (My car is debadged, I know he knew what kind of car it was, he just wanted me to say it.) "It's a COBALT". The guy puts both his hands in the air and says, "It's fast". I complement him on his car and we drive our seperate ways.
I really do love the SRT-8 chargers. In fact, it's brother, the SRT-8 Grand Cherokee with the same 6.1L HEMI is one of my dream cars.
Anyway, I'm pleased.

Dude thats awesome. I always see them and am afraid to even look over at them (I'm stock). Makes me feel good to know that with a little modifications I could hang close. Nice Run.

Same feeling I got when I beat that 5.0L, The guy was amazed when he got to the light merging off the highway, he was like "I had a hard time catching up to you". While my car was full (3 passengers) it made me feel good to say to him "No, you just couldnt catch me thats all" he knew what I was driving none the less.

Do the magnum SRT-8's have the same engine? I have always liked those better than the 300. they are too bling bling for me. Plus I'm used to driving my parent's old caprice station wagon.... so the magnum is nice to me!

If I ever won the lottery, I'd blow up the internals on that 6.1 and put about 16 lbs of boost into that bad boy. Who wants to drive 600 whp? sweet.

Oh well can't blame people for NOT street racing but you CAN blame them not to when they have an srt-8... Does that make sense? Whatever..

i can understand why a jeep wouldn't want to race you from a roll...it's an awd car with high torque and long gearing. same with the srt-8 charger. most wrx drivers will not race you from a roll because their performance from a roll is horrible compared to from a dig. i don't really race from rolls. i will play around with people you know, but if i like talk to somebody and set up a race at a light, we race from the light. roll racing is fun, and i am not trying to say it is stupid or anything, but i really don't think racing from a roll shows the true performance of a car.

say what you guys want I put 3 cars on srt8 jeep from a roll when he shut down, there is a black one that taunts me eveytime i see him, and it is usually when i am turning off. Just happend one night i was just cruise and i happened to look over and there he was tapping the gas i am not one for racing but it happened i immdiately put a 1 1/2 on him and i could tell he was going be the nose raised but I kept pulling i looked back after 3 he was done and i was too. maybe he wasnt going all out but it was nice to see how the car compares to the larger motors.

There's some middle aged dude around here with an SRT-8 Jeep, and he kept repeatedly flooring it through traffic. Me and 3 others were in my car one night when he past us, I dropped from 5th to 3rd and caught up, and he punched it and so did I, and we ran dead even. He shot me a thumbs up and turned off and hauled ass. But I saw him another night going the opposite direction, and he took off from the light like a bat outta hell...them things have some serious traction and get up and go...at least a 5 sec. 0-60

At out last car show I had a similar run in with a Charger SRT-8. He wanted to go from a dig but I said it would be pointless with my bald ass Rosso's so we did it from a roll.
We did a 40mph roll twice and it was dead even the first time and the second time I pulled by maybe 3 feet. We raced to around 110mph each time.
The SRT-8 cars are impressive dig performers but suck from a roll.

We'll go again after stage 5 too.

difference in horsepower from gearing....? gearing doesn't affect horsepower at the crank. it will change the torque at the wheels, but that's about it.
