Just like generally, GTO's, Vettes, and the like are purchased my older men going through a mid life crisis. How about that for a generalization? lol...
I will be getting a new Camaro when they come out for sure. As far as RWD power, I am building a beast of a 93 S10 Blazer so that will keep me busy untill then

Run what you brung is my way of thinkin about the track. I ran with a 100lb plus speaker box, spare tire, and all. That's how I would drive it down the street. Do the GTO's have full size spares??

Mine ran a 13.1 @106 bone stock......
Put drag radials on and actually ran worse...(hated those tires)
I agree with the whole "run what ya' brung attitude"
As far as certain types of cars marketed at certain age groups....well, used GTO's are becoming cheaper and more affordable for the "younger" crowd...I've actually noticed the general population changing a bit over there.
Being a member/owner of both cars....I can say both crowds are totally different (atleast in my area) I used to organize the NJ cobalt meets...30 people would sign up...6 would show. With the GTO meets 150 sign up, 148 show up. The GTO people just seem a bit more dedicated and it is definitely an older crowd

uhhh i know the guy personally... and the car was bone stock... period... and all the other local cobalts can attest to it as well.
taking a spare tire out is not a mod, nor does it change the car was bone stock... thats called common sense, and if he had his spare in, what would he run a 12.82? lol

it's the radiator, theres a reason why people relocate it away from it
it depends. some do low 340s, some hit high 350s
Theres also something called power:weight ratio. Did fast06ss run on drag tires? (I dont know a lot about cobalts, we got a local guy here who runs 13.40s with about the same power, but he is traction limited)
What I find dumb about this arguement is though, what are the chances youre going to run into another performance enthusiast with a stock car?
I love cars, my car is no longer stock, so you're not going to catch some off guard inexperienced driver in a stock car here
I certainly wouldnt post about beating a "stock" vehicle that is typically faster than mine, modded vs modded.

Look at how long ROB's car lasted. It was retired in a couple months. And You need about 270whp to keep up with the stock LS2 IMO

This thread was not posted to argue. This thread was posted to put light on actual races between BlurpleSS's SS and My GTO. We figured so many people talking trash we should go out and race it up to report back and have people discuss it.
I was reading on the GTO forums that the spare junk in the trunk weighs approx 50-60lbs. You combine that with an nearly empty tank of gas (8lbs x 16 less gallons = another 128lbs. So rough 180lb drop compared to full tank and full trim) But that wouldn't be stock would it? LOL
Yes, cars are SIGNIFICANTLY slower here in AZ.
