Coming from a Cobalt I left them alone out of the fond memories I had of them and this place but this ass was BEGGING for it!
Cruising home in the right lane chillin with the cruise set to 60 listening to the radio, hardly nothing on the road but an 18 wheeler I passed at the tolls and no one ahead of me. Then I see these 10k HID headlights in my rearview FLYING up on me and then this silver Cobalt SS shoots by me in the left lane, whatever no big deal I'm relaxing. So he lets off the gas and hits his brakes and I can hear his straight exhaust back firing, now I'm gaining on him cruise control still set to 60. Cruise off, sport mode, traction control off, my car was now set to ICBM mode and I catch him just as he hits an off ramp to another empty highway except the 1 lone Dodge pickup we come up on halfway thru the turn which gets us down to about 40. I hear him downshift several gears and his 2.0 is screaming, the ramp ends at the start of the next highway and he dives for the left lane with exhaust pouring out of his tailpipe as he grabs the next gear. I look right at the merging lanes to make sure nothing is coming which its not, by now he not only had the break but had about 4 cars on me and I figured WTF I gotta at least try! I hammer the throttle and the 6 liter under the hood screams to life as the transmission downshifts to sport2 and the 285's struggle to find traction as I roar past the Dodge pickup. He's on it as hard giving it all he's got but as my G8 shifts to 3rd I smile cause he's done! Top of 3rd and I'm walking past him and the G8 shifts into 4th I hit my turn signal and get into the middle lane and keep pulling away. I let off when I'm about 8 18 wheeler lengths ahead of him as I figure point proved. BUT NO what is this he's trying for the ricer flyby! I let him get to about 2 car lengths off my drivers side 1/4 panel just so he can hear what 6 liters of Cobalt death sounds like up close and personal and I hammer it again and stop his roll dead in its tracks and walk away from him but this time I stay in it. After that I didn't see him again and headed on home laughing to myself.
I know there are PLENTY fast ass Cobalts out there but this guy damn sure wasn't anywhere near a 12.2 or better. I didn't post this to stir the pot rather to head him off if he's a member here with his video of him "killing a G8" while I was doing 60 with my car in cruise.

Modified Vararam intake, ported TB, Ported intake, Kooks 1 7/8 long tube headers, no cats, custom mid pipe, Solo axle backs, tuned by Race Proven Motorsports of Del (RPM) and light weight wheels. I think thats it for the go fast stuff. Also being in Maryland at sea level helps with the DA.

Car has been tuned, shift points are not stock neither is the rev limiter. Red line has also been raised it pulls all the way past the 1/4 in 3rd, 116 is the best trap speed its netted so far. I didn't think it was correct either until others on the G8 board reported similar mph in a 1/4 mile. I believe a few guys are hitting 118 mph holding 3rd. Believe me or not I'll sleep just fine either way.
