Angry I went to jail last night!!!!

So i get out of work at around 2 in the morning wednesday, and my buddy and I are driving side by side. So we get to a light and we just sat there talking about how much work sucks waiting till the light turned green. When it does he punches it and his tires squeel. I accelerate normaly and later catch up to him going under the speed limit which is 55 mph. After passing him i see cop lights behind him and he starts to pull over. Me being a nice guy I decided to pull over further down the road just in case he needed something. Well, another cop gets up behind me and ask me for my license. After returning with it he pulls me out of my car and places me under arrest for racing. I was conffused, but we both were on the way to jail, then later to county jail. I wasn't read my rights or asked for registration for my vehicle. The whole arrest happend within 2 minutes and I had to pay to get my car out of the inpound. And soon to pay court cost. WTF ?????????????? I wasn't even racing this time and i got arrested. Isn't that irony.

hahahahahha... i know its hard to belive, but i was really not racing this time. Thats why I say its irony. I think the cop wanted to get off the streets for a while so he decided to go with the six hour paper work. Had I bin racing you know I wouldn't be side by side with my friends car. SO does anyone know what fines I have coming my way?

If your story is true, then I would be pissed. I would have told the cop to sit back and watch me actually run through the gears to show him the difference between racing and driving.

You should go to a dealership or insurance company and see if they can read the "black box" and print out the data on the time that you got pulled over. If they can do that, you might be able to prove your innocence. Just an idea.

If they can use it to nail you for an accident, why can't you use it to prevent wrongful charges?

Mission Texas is about 2 miles form the mexican border. Can they really read the black box. On top of that i didn't even know that vehichles had a black box. Honestly, I don't think I'm even going to have to go to that extent one they find out I wasn't read my rights.

That's a great idea, but does it time log everything? I know I read about an accident involving a Grand Am with a black box, and it only kept like a 10 or 15 second memory of velocity and acceration. Just enough to see what was going on before the accident. Of course, this was years ago, so maybe the tech is better now.

All cars have had a "black box" since around 1998. I'm not sure how far back they record, but I would get it checked out ASAP to try and clear yourself in the event that your lack of Miranda Rights falls through. Remember, it's the cop's word against yours.

Even if he did forget to tell you what they were, they might still tag you with a little something. I'm sure if there is a recording or something that shows you were not read your rights, then you could have a nice lawsuit to work with.

Yeah I got a lawyer this morning. And my friend was also arrested. Basicly its our word against the cop. I think I want to get this done in a way were I don't get a cop in trouble and I get off with a slap on the wrist. I don't want to be a target for cops afterwards.

I believe the black box is activated when the air bag is deployed, saving information like speed, rpm, if you were braking, how long before impact you started braking. stuff like that
its not like a data logger

man they should put some kind of storage and allow the driver to save the data on demand (say when being pulled over)

The cop told me it was a class b misdemeanor, but they treated me like i was a felon. I was put in a cell with guys who were in there for domestic abuse, aggravated assault, rape, and believe it or not a member of Mara Salvatrucha. Heres brief article on the gang.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7244879/site/newsweek/

I really don't think I belong in that jail cell. When I told the rest of the inmates what i was in for they ******* laught with me, or at me. hahaha.

ur friend is the one that screwd you over. for a 'race" to take place it most have one of following.

-spin tires
-betting anything
-agreement between the drivers if its just for fun.

also the cops do have voice recording during all traffic stops and i wouldnt worry bout getting a cop in trouble for him being a f*ck up and not reading you your rights. thats his mistake your gain.
