the one thing that i wouldve done different is downshift into 2nd before you even honked it off. i think you lost a whole second by the time you honked then downshifted then gave gas.... just my opinion

It was a v8. The OP would have walked a v6.

maybe not with a tune on your car but id say a ottp stage1 would be able to beat you from a roll but youd have them off the line. but ive beat a gt with just an exhaust and i have a cat back

the newer retro style mustangs are faster than the previous gen. i've yet to run a newer one myself, but i have the feeling i'd either keeping up barely, or seeing his taillights, whereas i have no problems killing a guy i work with who has an '01 gt. and his has gears, cat-back, tune (canned, mainly for the gear change), and a drop in filter.

A stage 2 SS/SC is on par with a stock SS/TC. From a 40 roll, my intake/tune SS/TC beat my Mustang by about 4 cars from 40 to 100. And my SS/TC would beat a stage 2 SS/SC with ease. Alot of people dont give credit to the 05+ GT's, although they are the best GT's ever built, and are now getting to be as cheap and easy to mod as the 5.0's were.
Considering full bolt ons and a tune on the 99-04 GT's resulted in low 13 second cars at best, and it took full bolt ons plus cams to even get them into the 12's, I'd say it's day and night difference between the 99-04's and 05+. I had an 01 GT, but traded it for my SS/TC.
