JustACobalt vs. G35 and Chopper!
so i was driving back from the rio grande to mexico city and i happened to run into two races on my trek.
first one was a G35 coupe that looked stock but i think it had the aero package. i drive by it a going around 60 and it gets right behind me so i speed up a little to 70 and it gets in the other lane and catches up. theres a red light up ahead so we slow down and at about 30 the light turns green so i dropped the clutch and of course this turbo takes almost 5k to spool up so he gets about 2 cars ahead and when it finally spools i spin uncontrollably while passing him. after pegging off the limiter for a little while i shifted to 3rd and once again took a while to spool but once it did i put about 2 busses on him. race was from about 30-110. prob stock because it was pretty slow and the exhaust was quiet.
next i see a single headlight behind me. hoping it was a crotch rocket i slowed down (always wanted to race one) and i see the light get more round as it gets closer, a chopper. hell i havent driven my car in over a week so i drop it to 2nd and go spinning by him. when he sees me do that he floors it (thing was loud as hell) so i shifted into 3rd and caught up and walked him slowly til the end of 4th so prob about 140. had about 3 cars on him by the end. thing was pretty quick and looked amazing
glad to have the car back again from the dealership (replaced purge solenoid). only thing is im getting really tired of this turbo lag. it doesnt see 15 psi til about 3800 rpm, 20 psi til 4300 rpm and full boost (24-25 psi) til about 4700 rpm. looked under the car and noticed a stock dp and stock exhuast. so i know what im getting next. 3" zzp catless dp with extra o2 bung and 3" exhaust with just a magnaflow resonator. that should help out a bit.

Blow off valve and a waste-gate are two totally different parts of a turbo application.
A Blow off valve would replace a by pass valve ( which is the same thing except it recirculates air instead of venting to the atmosphere like a bov).

wow there's so many stupid comments on this forum I don't think I can ever come back here again. A lot of ignorant kids that can't even catch onto a "all events filmed in Mexico" joke, but in other words...

Just FYI... the wategate is on the exhaust side. If the pressure in the exhaust manifold is too much the wastegate opens and allows exhaust gasses to go around the turbo wheel. The BOV or BPV act on intake air. Even without enough pressure in the intake to open a bov or bpv the wastegate can still come open if pressure become too high.
Also good run... g35s and 350z are pretty quick stock but if they are run with forced induction look out.

i was making just under 400whp, turbo is probably capable of 450whp. unfortunately, a couple of weeks ago, my engine ran lean and piston #4 burnt up. not sure if it was the tune or the pump couldnt keep up...
ill be tearing it apart next week and praying that the sleeve is ok. by next month it should be back up and running with forged pistons and arp head studs. ill have to kick the tune down to probably under 20 though to compensate for fuel.

On a side note, I'd be careful lookin for sportbikes with the kind of power you're talkin. Chances are you're going to run into someone who doesn't know what the hell they're doing, though, so you might do just fine if it's a 600 and they're a couple gears too high! lol
For reference, my brother and I were messin around yesterday just to see what would make a good race. He's got an 02 Z28 with heads, cam, 3.73s, and bolt-ons, and he was by himself. He's probably making in the 430ish range and the car weighs about 3450? I was on my bone stock 2007 GSXR 600:
From 40mph, we knew me starting in first gear and even second gear was pointless because the bike is ridiculous, so we decided on me in third gear from 40mph and him in either first or second (whichever ended up being better for him). On the hit, he got out about 1 1/2 cars because I was so low in the RPM's, but by the top of third I had cranked back and was passing him HARD. In fourth and most of fifth I put two cars on him after making up the car and a half in third. We let off at the top of my fifth and his fourth (140mph). He had stopped my pull but hadn't made up any ground.
Keep in mind that's with me starting two gears higher than I would have if we were really going at it. Then again, most people don't know what they're doing and would probably start in third or fourth gear to begin with because they don't know any better or are too scared of the low gears. 98% of riders out there are just terrible when it comes to this kind of racing.

That sucks, man. Sorry to hear. My buddy just spun a bearing in his Cobra yesterday and even when it's not my car it sucks to hear about people having motor issues.

no straight 93 pump with meth injection. i really dont know how it happened...
oh dont get me wrong, i know that i would have no chance racing any newer 600 or practically any bike for that matter. i usually dont race much anyway but this was late at night and i just wanted to see what would happen. i wouldnt even try racing a crotch rocket 99% of the time because its dangerous and i already know im going to lose. cool story tho
