not to sound too cliche, but my cousin ran 13.7 i/h/e slicks some weight reduction in his GSR I don't remember if he was tuned or not

he ran 15.3 or 15.4 stock.

he also ran 14.4 in his CRX SI with just a 40shot and slicks.

Do some more research, Hondas as well as most imports come highly restricted from the factory, so it is very easy to get 50+whp with bolt ons and increased redline.
Oh, how silly of my to think that torque is a bad thing......Dude, your a ******* moron.

I don't need to do any reasearch on Hondas. All my research has been done while kicking the **** out of them up and down the road. I have had many friends with cars from swapped CRX's up to SC Type R's. I know these cars and I know what they can do. There is no one that can add an intake and exhaust to a B18 and make an extra 50WHP, I don't give a **** who they are. We can't even make those gains on a supercharged car with those mods so how in the hell is it going to happen on an N/A 1.8L engine?

Oh and exactly what is restrictive about a 1.8L engine that revs to 8000rpm and makes 200hp STOCK (Type R)???

SEE.... do more research! OLD ITRs have 195hp not 200hp stock and rev higher than 8000rpm.

You think you know, but you have no idea, this ^^^^ is the diary of a Cobalt Fanboi.

Talking Correction...

Sorry to correct you guys, but the Type R, from 96-01 (includes the JDM ones), have 197 horsepower and the redline on them is 8400 rpms. Three of my buddies have Type R's and are nuts about them and their history. In Japan, they equate to 200ps. ~ 197hp. (US)

Just by I/H/E you will not pull 50 whp, I pulled 161whp in my 95 GSR, with those. Now, if you introduce tuning and a few other things, then, yes, you can achieve a shitload of power for the vehicle's weight, and whoop the **** out of most things.

Just for your info...

They were rated at 195hp..... http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...e_r/index.html

And nobody said with just I/H/E you could gain 50whp, the argument was for just bolt-on to gain 50whp, which is very easily done.

see now i could see much better times with slicks, and your cousin most likely was tuned to get that kind of improvement in his time. but, the original topic was about a GSR with i/h/e, thats it. one could safely assume that he didnt have slicks, so the question is... is that really all he had?

Oh, sorry for being a retard, I was off by a whole 5 hp. I do have to admit, I don't have a subscription to motortrend and I don't read a lot of reviews from "journalists" who don't know **** from a hole in the ground. So I am not completely up to date on the exact factory claimed hp of every Honda ever made.

Facts of the matter still dont change........Your a loser and Honda's with I/H/E are still slow. Case closed.

Oh, and just an FYI
very well put my last car was 99 integra w/ I/H/E and a vtec controller i pulled 194whp on a dyno jet. good driver(not me a friend) 13.8
^^^That's what I called BS on. 194 WHP is at LEAST 50WHP more than stock. Maybe you should read the whole post before you start flappin your gums next time.

You said with bolt-ons no honda could gain 50whp. You are completely wrong. Do not backpedal now.

You sure I said that? Find the post where I did.

Only thing I have stated in this thread is a B18 with Intake and Exhaust. That's it.

and we were talking about i/h/e and vtec controller

Actually even more proof you know nothing... http://www.geocities.com/dynocenter/00R_mmod_stock.jpg

stock they (type Rs) dyno around 160whp

so it easy to assume a GSR with I/H/E will make a lot of power

A Stock GSR is rated around 170 hp. A Stock Type R is around 195 hp. No this is an ESTIMATION Mr. Motortrend so don't work out into a fit here.

195 Crank hp = 160 whp so that works out to about a 20% drivetrain loss.

SO

170 Crank hp = APPROX 140 whp

Now, if we take 194 whp as quoted in a previous post, and subtract the estimated stock whp from that we get 54 whp.

Now do you see where I was coming from?
