me vs. 05 stang gt (bolt ons) and 01 m3 (intake)

you all know those night where you just have an urge to get in your car and drive? all by yourself, nothing else matters, just you and your car? well last night I had just that kind of night, and it was the best i had in a while.

I pull up to a light and i see a GT stang behind me, green light, he switches lanes and comes up next to me..i hear him drop to 3rd..so i follow..he smashes it so do i, we stay even untill 5k rpm and i start pulling, 4th gear switch i pull more then let off..we catch a light..stopped he asked me what i have done i tell him and he tells me " i have just bolt ons"he says..light turns green and we hit it and i split it..i pulled hard from the hole and by the top of third im about a whole car in front. end of that story

next is about 10 minutes later..im stopped at a light and an 01 m3 pulls up, hes riding with his wife and they are laughing staring at me..i guees because he has a small bird..but thats what i think, hes reving hard to show off to his wife i assume so i play it cool and let him launch at the green light and i just sat there..his bird must have shrunk even more..then i eventually catch up and he signals me to race..now im game..we sloww down to second gear and 3 honks later im pulling hard..we didnt even make it out of third but i pulled hard on him..then he turned off ..

it was about 11pm, not traffic, 50 degrees out, 178 coolant temps..everything was perfect and i was satisfied and went home

Yea M3s all of all sorts like the e36 and e46 are one of the most beautiful cars to me. But the owners....usually can be tools. Luckily a local friend of mine has an e46 and he's a good guy.

nailed it..my roomate from college for 3 years has a 97 m3 with a vortech supercharger, great guy, gourgous car, but mommy and daddy pay for all..regardless hes a nice guy and does not flaunt it like other m3 owners i know.

i took mine to oldbridge raceway and got 2 runs in, im not happy to say but the best i got was a 14.5 with insane wheelhop and clutch slippage...i was nervous as **** my first time at the track since highschool and im still learning how to drive this car..alot different launching than a turbo'd car..with my location and mods im looking to be high 13's when i can get down launching this car.

im 100x better on the street..no nervousness i just go

nothing to bad embrassed about man, the car is not the easiest to work with on street tires when you make power, my car was only doing 14.3 at 107+ last trip to the track i was off the throttle 3 times becuase wheel hop was killing me to

same here i actually hook better on the street

thats with the mods in the garage, i just went on street tires. I brought my drag radials but the socket was not a thin enough on to fit in the new rim so street tires for the day. I was launching and short shifting first going to second wheel hopping, let off then getting back on and hopping, and did the same thing one more time and finally caught traction was running 14's most of the day@107+ off the throttle alot during the runs

good kills, i'm surprised the e46 m3 was pulled on after it got the launch, unless it was the first gen of their smg paddle shifting b/c i've seen one of those run a mid 14, but 2001 up ones usually run low 13s, i raced one but it wasnt a fair race becase he started 2 cars behind me and i wasnt racing untill he passed me, then i down shifted and the bastard put on his 4 ways.

thank you..the m3 race was just a 3rd gear pull no launching involved..im sure it would have been different it was from a stand still..

you've got alot of learning to do. i was trapping higher (and had much a better e.t.) with a 2.9 pulley, and exhaust. on stock tires, with no traction mods.

then i switched to d.r.'s and jumped down to low 13s, i also broke an axle... then i fixed it.. and sold it
keep trying, and expect to need a clutch or axles soon if you keep doing it wrong.

i think anomalous made a launching vid that might help you.
