Just got home from this one....
I'm driving down a 4-lane road (2 lanes each way) and I stop at the light with someone in front of me. While I'm stopped I didn't notice the G35 creep up behind me until he honks at me twice. But since there's about 4 cars in front of us, we have to weave thru traffic for a couple of lights and we finally get to line up. We ran twice from a dig:
First race: I got a little more wheel hop than I would have liked, and the G35 got a good take off. From the sound of it, he's got an exhuast, but otherwise stock, and I know he can hear my S/C whine. Anyway, he beats me by about 1-1/2 cars up to about 90 mph.
Race 2: I get a much better launch, tho he still got a good launch as well. This race goes to about 110 mph, and this time he got me by about 3/4 of a car.
After all that we both reach a 3rd light and just smile at each other and go our seperate ways...

I think his point was that it was close, he had some fun, but our cars don't beat everything on the road. You don't have to win to have a good story.

he must have had more than just exhaust, unless he was launching waaaaay better than you. with your mods and a good launch you should have had him. i just raced a 350Z yesterday with exhaust(dont know what else) and pulled 2 cars from a stop up to 110mph. we did a 20 punch as well and i pulled 3-4 cars then. all i have is a 3.0 pulley. if you would have gotten a better launch or gone from a roll you would have won unless he was more modded than you thought. good story though!

I'm thinking he had a lot more mods than you think. I've beat a stock G35 Coupe by 1/2 a car length to 100. Let me tell you, the guy didn't look happy. And that's with me stock as well. With the mods you have listed you should be pulling at least 2 cars on a stock G35.

Or maybe you raced a slow 350z with an automatic and crappy driver and he raced a fast lightly modded G35 with a good driver and manual. Just cause one thing happened for you, does not mean it will happen for everyone.

i was simply pointing out that my car has less mods than his and i can kill a 350Z(stick), which is directly comparable to a G35. this shows that the car he raced had more mods than he thought. someone else used a story of there own to show this as well, so why are you singling ME out. start reading posts more carefully, not everyone is trying to be a dick here.

At 4am this morning a G35 comes flying up on me from an on ramp. I am doing about 60mph and as soon as I saw him in the rear view I dropped down to 3rd and punched it. I am sure he was quite surprised that I not only caught but blocked him in his lane (HOV with a slower car in front) but then I had to get back over 3 lanes because my exit was now there. Couldn't tell you if he was modded (other than a passanger) because frankly my car at that speed is too darn loud and my stereo was blasting. I was hoping to play at that time of the morning because traffic was lighter but nobody would. A Celica GT and a modded civic thought so but after I took off on them the first time they wouldn't even try when I let them catch up

And I was simply (maybe too much so) saying that what happened for you will not happened for everyone. There are 5 different models of 350z and 2 or 3 different G35s. So just cause the one you raced had a manual transmission does not mean it was fast.

I was lined up at the light on a frontage road next to a G35. I was in the left lane that runs onto the highway, and the G35 snuck up next to me on the right trying to get in front of everyone at the left by getting in the right hand lane anticipating a quick lane change to merge onto the highway. I pretended not to notice him, but distinctly could tell it was a G35, espcially considering I was in the Plano-Legacy area near the tollway (any locals familiar with that area can probably attest to that fact). Light turns green and we're both on it. I figured if he's going to be an ******* and try to pass everyone on the right trying to merge onto the left lane, I was going to embarrass him just a tad bit. Well sure enough, I'm not a big fan of first gear, so I only use that gear to get the car moving forward, as soon as i do that, I immediately get it into 2nd gear. By the time we get to the onramp, I was in 3rd gear and had about 1/2 a car on him. The lane divider was quickly turning solid, one look at my rear-view mirror, the G35 had no choice but to submit behind me. Gotta love it when a what $40,000 car has to file behind a $20,000 car.

Who doesn't love to see that? Nice to see that people enjoyed my story. As for how modded that guy was, I don't know. I don't know a whole lot about 350Zs/G35s so I didn't really know what to expect, but I figured that for $40K, he should've beat me. Another funny thing I forgot to mention was that after me and the G35 parted ways, a guy in an Explorer pulls up next to me and asks:
"What do you HAVE in that thing?"
"A 2.0"
"A four-banger?!?!"
"Yea", and I just grin and speed off. He must have enjoyed the show...

haha, was probably his friend wondering why he got spanked so bad, figured he'd save his friend some embarrassment. I rarely see the G35s out here modded. The uptight conceited people here that own em are "too good" to have them modded I guess. 350Zs on the other hand, those are almost always modded.

You know its funny, but every so often I think about getting rid of this thing for a GTO but then gas prices go slightly up and make me realize I made a good choice in transportation. And then an encounter with a much greater vehicle (like the G35s) reinforces my initial decision. The beauty of the LSJ platform is that it will beat many nicer cars out there and if it loses to one, hell its a 4-banger! My favorite kills are still Mustangs though

Yeah I got me 2 mustangs on the awy to che's tonight.... Both were non-gt 2006's... It was funny cuz they kept trying to pass me from like 100 feet back so I saw them coming and dropped into 3rd ripping them up... I dunno bout you guys, but I just laugh at most new mustangs... I even had better track times then the GT one at Texas Motorplex, and it was a GT!!! I guess they are all newbz...

i agree with him completely i raced a g35 from a dig and we shut down dead even cause of traffic by around 120 and that was with a very bad launch on my part but all im sayin is that u should have taken him

Time to kick a dead horse...

Ran into the guy that was in the Explorer; he started working at the car wash I take my car to when it's cold out/I'm lazy. Turns out the G35 was a rental, and therefore stock. It was kinda funny having him wash my car after all of that.

I've raced 3 G35 coupe's. Lost o to one by a similar amount as the author of this story from a dig. From a roll I killed the other two.
