H/C Ls1s aren't capable of 12s, they are capable of 11s...
and I tell you what, we have a CAM ONLY(with bolt-ons of course) Ls1 in my family that any tune/bolt-on LNF is more than welcome to come run, and my brother won't spray it either to make it fair... and this is coming from a full bolt-on 23psi LNF owner... that thing rips me from whatever race i want
just a Lid, 3" catback, headers, a TR 230/230 cam, LS6 intake, a tune, and drag radials.... now it does have a stall and a built 4l60e(built to hold about 800whp), so any races from a dig will result in his 1.7 60' and you getting bus lengths put on you... but even from a 40, you're not going to win.... ask me how I know...and when i say lose its not like, "damn, I almost had him"... nope its "sit the **** down son, you just got owned"... and if you thinks it fast all motor, you should see it when its jetted 150... what makes it even worse is the auto, though hell from a dig with a stall, are NOT as strong as a t-56 car from a roll... yet I still have nothing for his A4, if it were a cammed T-56, it'd be even WORSE from a roll... now from a dig, I believe i'd put the TA on some Ecstas, the Cobalt on a slick and STILL take the race, lol
as far as Ls1s not being "fast" I welcome anyone here to get into a mod war with one, lol... let me know how that works out for you

nope, Raptor, its has a higher scoop
that this is OEM style, direct fit, OEM hinges, etc... like a $1300 hood because it has the functional air box and rear ducts like the OEM Ws6 hood... you can get a fiberglass knock off for like $600, but that is a genuine piece... they 1st sent him a WS6 hood, then they had a back order of parts, it took almost 3 months for him to get it, though at the time his car was in the body shop anyway so he didn't really care...
and of course my fav. part, the tag:
I Ate A GT, and he isn't joking, nope not even your Coyote is safe, in fact one guy once waited on us to walk out of a Sam's Club just to tell us "lets see you eat this GT" in a brand new 5.0... as soon as the TA was started and the loping began, well, enough of that, lol

I was just getting ready to change that. I showed my bf the ta and he said the same thing haha.. We are going to look at a 99 t/a this weekend for 3200. It needs some work, but he will track ***** it anyways so its nothing he cant deal with.
Another friend of ours just built a 6.0 with 230 or 240 cam i cant remember what he said, TSP 2.5 ls6 heads, edlebrock intake with elbow and a direct port nitrous kit, built 4l60e, 3600 stall.

Of course, I'm not accounting for the hand-of-God factor pushing some of these Cobalts.... Wish it would push my '09 sometimes!

if its 98-02, its a ls1. ls1s are pretty wicked. my brother has a ws6 LS1 with only an SLP intake and GMMG exhaust, no LTH or tune.. and he pulls on me on straight aways. but cant keep up with handleing. i can take a turn at 120 that we wont even attempt.. but FWD is completely different from RWD lol
12.8 was the best a STOCK down to the paper filter and tires a ls1 ever ran. Ive seen heads, cam m6 on drag radials run 11.2 at the track with my own two eyes, then drive home. Good STORY op lol im not calling you a liar but if the guy said he had heads and cam and im guessing you know at least a little about cars would'nt you have been able to tell if he was lieing when he started up his car?

there is no way it was a h/c LS1, unless it has the absolute worst tune known to man or a **** ass driver... at WORST that is a 400whp LS1, at best its a 475whp car
and like I said, I know of a bolt-on/cam only LS1 that traps over 100 in the 1/8th and i don't have to search the internet for it... its about 13 miles from my house
I love my car for what it is, its not beating a 400+whp LS1... and for him to be on the stock tune? LOL
really, do the math on that, a bolt-on only LS1 is 350whp... that right there is going to put BUS LENGTHS on a stock tune Cobalt... you don't even need a damn cam, much less some heads
this site is hilarious some times
http://s37.photobucket.com/albums/e7...ansAm0-150.mp4
with me driving it, all motor.... and that was with a 200+lb passenger(R.I.P. Toby), the t-tops out, and the windows down on some **** ass tires spinning to 50...

Right man I kno it Looked like an older trans am like 97-98 I didnt hear there convo between them, so I'm not sure about the lt1/ls1 debat, maybe he had an ls1 head on the lt1, it sounded gd tho, I doubt he had full bolt-ons, but regaurdless I've seen him around town and the car rips, like i said if he had better rear gears that may have made the diff

shitty rear end gears? the 3.42s are the best option(well only option for the 6-speeds)... you lost me on that way back as well
2.73s were the shitty gears, which were on the '98-99 autos... and I doubt he had a cam or intake, probably an exhaust with no cats, lol
most people prefer to run the stock 3.42s for the 6-speed cars, especially if they plan on running DRs... with the 3.73s and 4.11s, they are great for the strip, but you better have some meaty tires... and they are the suck on the asphalt... if your car is near stock they are great but once you make over 400whp, you dont need that low of a gear... that is a great Mustang trick for trying to have an underpowered car be quick for 660ft... now if you are building a drag car, by all means go that low, through some true slicks on it, get you a bullet proof rear end and it'll rip... but for the guys building street cars, they don't go that route
in the auto LS1 cars everyone seems to run to the 3.23s especially with a stall... my brother had 3.73s on his car with the 3200 stall and actually ended up selling them and buying some 3.23s which is a "higher"(worse) gear than you are describing
now the 2.73s sucked, no denying that but unless he had a '98 or '99 automatic LS1, he didn't have that problem... my brother did and had to change his carrier out to be able to get rid of them
