my first SRT-4 run-in
Was driving to see my mom on sunday, and this guy in an SRT-4 rolls up next to me. Road is all but deserted, so I figure what the hell, why not? I hear about how fast these things are, but I have never seen one put it down. I am all stock except for an intake, so I'm not expecting to win, but holy crap I was not expecting to get absolutely destroyed.
He pulled almost 4 lengths on me from 20mph to a bit over 80, which is not a long race at all. Judging by the racket his spooling turbo and BOV were making, he had to be running a stage kit, but I'm not sure which one. And damn, the exhaust on those things sounds NICE.
Damn that thing was quick, I really need to get stage II.

*shrug* gotta realise that a stage 3 SRT has quite alot of $$ dropped into it (3-4k from what i understand all said and done)
their stage 3 is just straight up monster.
We basically dont have anything resembling that kind of mod package yet. hence we get destroyed.
Ahh well. good run

My Buddy Jesse has a stage 3 SRT-4 with toys... toys is 3 different timing modes.. you run mode 3 (high octane mode) if your on race gas.
His car makes around 400 whp and he ran 12.1 @ 118 mph. He let me drive it on the street in high octane mode with race gas... and holy ****.... there arent ANY cobalts that can touch an S3 SRT4. They are scary fast to drive.

Ramming for wimps. Get more power, hunt his ass down, and smoke him. That's what I did, well at least until they all got Stage 2 or bigger turbos. Their time will come though! I have evil plans in the future!

One problem with the whole ramming concept, one has to catch them to ram them. With our giant ass spoiler, they can see us coming for at least a mile.

I am confused, you could hear the turbo spool and you could hear the bov.............so it was staged? LOL
If you have a stock Cobalt SS/SC its likely he was in a stock SRT4, or maybe something with an intake, or exhaust. 4 lengths isnt alot.

yea seriously if you can hear a bov inbetween shifts during a race...he cant shift for ****...they are loud stock...and the turbo has an excelent spool sound with an intake..so chances it had very little mods

In all seriousness, I'm not trying to be a dick. But realistically, it's not gonna happen without some pretty decent modding on the cobalt's behalf. But you could always find a horrible driver in an SRT and beat him out with better driving skills.
Also, just to clarify the whole, "it was loud, so it must've had a staged kit", the only sound that changes from a stock srt to a staged srt is the exhaust note on deceleration. It just pops more through the exhaust with a staged kit. Otherwise, the BOV, turbo, and exhaust during acceleration sound identical.

so he loses....fesses up.....we all agree that they are quicker.....and we still have our local SRT contingient laying the boot in.....
You know, being on a cobalt forum as an SRT owner makes things difficult at times for you im sure....(im a member of a local SRT forum, so i understand) but sometimes you need to just back off. we arent the mustang skittle haters here, the rivalry for the 90% part from cobalts is a grudging respect between a fellow domestic tuner. how about next time just say "good run" instead of trying to make out that the SRT beat him with 3 wheels and a one legged driver.
