Not too sure bud...from what I read though, the motor is only good to about 300 horse unless you replace the pistons. Once you get new pistons you should be good to go for quite a while

My advice...drive it like it's stolen...if it breaks then fix it. Nothing is worse than being scared to drive your car because something might break. Something might break on all cars when you trounce on them...thats the name of the game...you have to pay to play.
No car yo buy or anything you do will keep it from eventually going...poop...and something breaking.

The only internal component I wouldn't worry about is the crank. The pistons are hypereutectic and just like everyone else said; they'll fail near the 300hp mark. The rods are beefy for a stock application but GM never mentions that they are forged metal fracture splits made by Mahle. Good rods...but I would much rather have true forged steel fracture split rods than forged powdered metal.

i cant believe i just sat here and read this entire thread anyhow....haters LOL
dyno:
Stock vs. 50 trim @ 18psi vs. 50 trim @ 24psi
Mods, 50 trim, AGP race FMIC, HP perf. 3" turbo back, 750's tuned with the Dtec FCBC.

I believe with stage II and other supporting mods along with pistons would = a good race with a stage 3 srt-4. The main thing is getting traction. SRT-4s have a tough time with this as do we. Their cars are a little lighter then ours and they have a 2.4 turbo engine. We already have less power running a 2.0 not to mention once a turbo gets spooled up hes just gonna pull and pull. I think (not sure) stage 3 SRT-4 is running like 21psi? I say we build a 2.4 ecotec engine with that new super charger that eaton put out. Have some pistons and all the other supporting mods and say bye bye SRT-4!

I can't believe this bickering has gone on for pages and pages...
He lost the race, SRT-4 won, end of story. Why 6 pages?
