when i ran my auto 2.4 with intake, header & catback against my friends 06 mustang auto v6 (stock) he beat me by a little. my opinion is your gonna lose. hes heavier but his hp wil more than make up for the wieght difference. you better wipe your ass on that twenty before you race so at least you get a little satisfaction from your hard earned cash.

The 2004 mustang is heavier but if he has the 3.9L V6 engine I would say he'll still beat you.
The 2.2 without any mods is pretty damn slow and the torque steer is going to be a problem when going full throttle.

I don't know, I've raced some of the new v6's and I don't know if it was driver or what but they're pretty dang slow....I haven't lost a race to one yet... all I have is a CAI and I've lost some weight....well a lot of weight but still....

I'm with everyone else. The V6 will eat a Cobalt. The new V6's have 210 horsepower; that is pretty impressive for a 4.0 V6 considering my '89 Mustang had 225 hp stock and it is a 5.0 V8. (Torque is a different story though...)
