Need Opinions: Me Vs. Silvia CA18DET
Ok so there is a guy in town who has a semi gutted silvia k's (JDM) still with the CA18DET but he just finished building it again.
What he did: Took the whole engine apart replaced all seals and gaskets, balanced and blueprinted, bored it out just under a 2.0 lowered the compression from 8.7 to 8 with dome shaped pistons, and is boosting 14 psi on a gt40(i think thats what its called) its a t4 turbo and he is Untuned. he does alot of drifting so he has mad camber on the rear tires, he only weighs 1100kilo's and has a dash door panels and the rest is gutted. Its now broke in and i see him out driving all the time again.
He has a bunch of minions that worship him, and beak me all the time and think he will blow me away... i disagree i think he will win but he will not blow me away...
My Mods: Stg II, 2.9, GMPP Performance Cat Back(resonator Del), XTC 2.5 DP, AEM CAI, Ingalls, 1 Step Cooler Plugs, Sportlines.
What do you think? and should i go from a dig or 40MPH roll?
Anyone?

wouldnt a gt40 be huuge? idk my turbos very well, and the onyl ones that come to mind are the gt35XX and gt42XX. If this gt40 is also a garrett turbo, then the thing is pretty damn big, since i know those are big turbos as far as 2.0l engines go. I really know nothing about the car tho...but i wouldnt underestimate.

CA18DET powered Silvia has 180hp
SR20DET silvia can have 205hp(s13), 220hp(S14), and i think its 250hp (s15)
they also come with non turbo motors that have less hp.

ahhh thanks, I looked at a stock JDM Silvia in 07 for a buddy of mine who wanted to build a drift car and the sellers said it was 250 hp from the factory.... so it must have been an S15

whats scary is that there a 1998 R34 GTR for sale in my area on craigslist. fully built ready to go.
Guy wants 78K for it! I mean its a clean car. but soooooo much money.

ca18det is a weak motor stock, but with tunes they awaken
to the OP, becareful, jdm nissan motors are beasts when tuned, my sr20det has a gt35r and tuned, and pushing over 300ponies and a ca18det with a t28 and a tune lost tome by only a car and a half
ca motor is an iron block so they support more horsepower.
basically he is supposed to whip ur ass if hes a good driver.

a gutted silvia = really friggen light, add a 300whp setup, youre not gonna want to race him ever again
edit :after a little googling it looks like this turbo supports like 650hp... I dont know what his block can handle, but if went all forged and hes iron block, these honda boys are cranking 500whp out with GT40's 80mm is like just under 4"...
The only way he doesnt destroy you in seconds is if something goes wrong, which could happen if he tries to push that much air with no tune
