Question about Eclipse GSX

Question about Eclipse GSX
I got a question for everyone. A buddy of mine called me up the other day and said a friend of his wants to race me. I have a stock 06 SS/SC, I guess this kid has a Eclipse GSX with some things done to it. I know a little about them but not much. He said he was running 17 psi with only a few mods he told, might be hiding some. He said no cat, straight pipe, ( 20lbs) injectors, thought that was a bit small? Said something about Boscher racing or however you spell it, but didn't say what. Does anyone know if this could be true thats he's pushing 17psi and how I might do against him and or a stock GSX? I know or at least pretty sure they are AWD so from a dig im S.O.L but what about a roll? Thanks I would appreciate some info.
Also, i'm sure this has been posted a million times but I got Need for Speed Most Wanted for christmas and the SS/SC is in it. Its pretty fun putting mods on so you can see what it looks like all decked out.

Simply running 17psi won't make the Eclipse an all star, and unless he other real mods you don't have a whole lot to worry about.
As for racing from a dig or roll you shouldn't have a problem. The old DSM cars won't be launching like a EVO or STi by simply running 17psi.
But who knows, DSM guys like to lie about mods so be careful.

They made the 1st gen eclipse from 90-94 (1G DSM), and then from 95-99 (2G DSM). And yea, you have to be careful about DSM guys...they are sneaky and creative. This is coming from an ex-DSMer. I recently raced my stock 06 SS S/C against my buddy's 97 GSX. He has a fully built race trans, ACT 2600 clutch, intake, full 3" exhaust, hard intercooler pipes, 1g bov, mbc running like 17psi, but all running on the stock T-25 turbo. We did a 30mph roll on the highway and he beat me by a fender. He also abuses the crap out of the trans while shifting...which is why he went through 11 transmissions and now finally has a race trans. From a dig, if he has a decent clutch and he trans doesn't blow, he'll eat you alive. From a roll you have a fighting chance and could go either way. If you go to race him, expect nothing and just gun it and power shift!

i have a gst eclipse and i know that the block cant hold 17 psi the most is 15. a eclipse at 15 psi will beat the cobalt ss no matter what. the 3" turbo back will give it almost 20-30 to the wheels, it frees up the air. all i have to say is good luck, if you beat him let me know.

It all depends on the tuning. At the local strip I raced one with similiar sounding mods. All he could manage was a 15 flat at 99 mph. He may not no how to launch the thing but he said had it for 4 years. You think you would figure it out by then! It's not rocket science launching an AWD car!

but like everyone else is saying...you'll never know till you actually race him.
P.S. - yes I know I mention my "friends" a lot...that's because most of my friends are DSM guys.

Nothing was tuned though, so I'm guess the a/f was WAY off.

ok, rusty. the reason your freind got slower was because he wasn't tuned AND that FMIC that he had didn't help him at all. you don't need to upgrade to a FMIC on a t25 or even a 14b. it just make the turbo work to hard. the older 1g cars are faster than the 2g's. the 1g's are lighter with a better motor (6 bolt) and have a better turbo. they are rated at a lesser hp stock because of the lower compression pistons. the comment about 15psi on a stock bottom end is stupid. i've seen close to 30psi on stock bottom end. it's all in the tuning. i would say if the dsm that ssweet06 is racing is tuned then ssweet06 is gonna get raped from a roll or a dig. but if not, could be a close one. evo's still gotta ways before they start making records like dsm's have. john shepherd in his 91 tsi awd ran a 7.97@179mph and he is still street legal. http://www.shepracing.com/videos/Shep797.wmv

Wow, I cannot belive some of the stuff posted here.
A Eagle Talon TSi running 14.5 bone stock, yeah right.
Yes DSM cars a re easy to make fast not to mention cheap to make fast but most DSM owners lie about mods anyway so it's hard to say what's really done to them.
Simply running 17psi isn't going to make them a SS/SC killer.

hey, i said nothing about 14.5 stock. i doubt that would happen. but with a boost controller it's very possible. of course, that's not stock. that's upping the boost. it doesn't take much to make them fast at all. 450 dollars will give you 290awhp on a 1g!

Well I raced a GST and my friend owns a GSX he's got all the stock stuff accept his motor internals have been build (0by GT Pro here in california) to handle 700hp to boost at like 32-35psi or something like that anyway he's got all internals but a stock turbo, injectors, fuel pump and everything else is stock but he only pushes 15-18 PSI right now and is about 310 hp which does kick my but, However I did race a stock GST which has the same exact motor as a GSX and if he was stock you could beat the AWD GSX from a dig you'll end up catching him by 40 mph cause I raced the GST from I think 65-140 and pulled 4-5 cars and at 65 his turbo is spooled the extra weight the GSX has won't help it either I think you could beat him I'm 70% sure of it the other 30% he has mods I'm not aware of. GL and you'll catch em.
Produced from 95-99
they have
210 hp. 6000rpm
214 tq. 3000rpm
3681 lbs.
0-60: 6.5sec.
1/4: 15.1sec.
And he'll need more than 17PSI to beat you if you're a good driver

Thanks everybody for posting and for the info. It seems I might have a better chance than what I first thought. I think once the weather gets better in ohio here that I will give my buddy a call and accept his friends challenge and see what he has or at least go take a look at the car. Thanks again everyone!

From a dig the GSX will have you for lunch. My previous ride was a 98 GSX with the stock T25 with an ACT 2100 clutch. My best time at the track was a 14.5 and that was launching at 5500rpm with a 1.9 60 ft. time. My 06 SS/SC pulls harder mid range than my GSX did. I'd say from a dig, you're beat and from a 45mph or higher roll you're beat as well, because it doesn't take long for the T25 to spool(that's assuming he has a 2G GSX). The only way you could beat it would be from a 20-40mph roll, and even then it would be close... my .02 from experience...
