raced a gto

Driving to school this morning there is always a guy i see with a red gto and i always wanted to see how i would stack up but never would get the chance to race. Well i got my chance we caught a light today. I forgot to look over to see his badges but it did have dual exhaust yet no hood scoops so i am lead to believe it was a 04 gto. Well we roll out slow i go 50% in first becuas eanything else and traction is no exsistent, he has about a car on me i grab second and break the tires loose till 55 when i regain traction i am inching on him, hit third shut down around 110 and he did not pull on me cept for the launch. The front of my car was at his door creeping up but we shut down cuz of a light then he flew by me and flipped me off guess he was mad he couldn't pull on a cobalt.

Then it probably was an 04, and maybe he wasnt trying very hard?
The GTO's, of any year are no slouches.

But, if you hung with it, then thats pretty cool!

haha, A black GTO came flying by me on the highway yesterday. He kept passing on the shoulder and weaving in and out of traffic. I just let him go and sure enough, hes pulled over 2 miles down the road! lol

Good run!

2.5 pulley 60#'s hp tuned tranny mounts im thinking 04 gto it had a x pipe and dual exhaust looked like a mangaflow to me. We were even he just took me on the launch and maybe if my first gear was useful i could have done better.

It's only about a .5 second difference between the two.......not alot, but it could make a difference when racing a modded balt'

Certain places/sites claim different things but the most difference I've seen is that the 04' is "supposedly" about 125lbs. lighter

.5 second isnt very much? are you serious? thats an ass whooping at the track man. think of it more in terms of a 14.0 car or a 13.5 car and maybe it sinks in better.

on another note: i have numerous run-ins with the 5.7 and 6.0's and have not been impressed by either, mainly the 5.7's though.

Yeah my friends 6.0 is a slouch....or he just doesnt' know how to drive which he doesnt lol. These young crappy drivers are giving these sweet cars a bad reputation. Give me a GTO and i'll show you what it can and can't do

You can't really mess up that bad unless you short shift or always hit the limiter. The only one that lost traction in the race was me.

Try factoring in driver error and such...when it comes down to those, no .5 is NOT much of a difference. Those numbers were done by professionals. Put a normal everyday person in those and see what that .5 difference turns into.

Also by your 1000' time, I don't understand how you're "not impressed" with the 6.0's or 5.7's. Guess you just haven't gone up against one with a driver with a heart beat

you didnt say anything about driver error in the first place so you cant fault me for not factoring that in. and i have not seen any 6.0 goat run better than 11.33 at 93 mph here in the 1000' with most being in the 11.60's. that is why im unimpressed. im sure the 10 gto's ive seen run here all had the worst drivers ever, please man...

im sorry im not impressed with a brand new rear wheel drive 6.0 car that cant run any better than about half of the fwd 4 bangers at our track.

what kinda times did you run when you were stock?
