Talking RX7 Pawnage

Last night I was over at a friends house getting ready to DM for a group of friends as usual for our gaming Monday. One of the players in my game is a long time friend of mine who recently got a Mazda RX7. He comes up to me and asks if we could post pone the game till an hour later. I ask him way catching the snickering from other friends and he calls me out to race. I look at his car in the drive way and said sure. We drove out to a old road thats well paved double wide and will give us ample room with no side streets and drop the guys at the end of the run. Me and the guy in the RX7 go ahead and turn at the Quarter mile mark. (The road's been used before) And he does a quick burnout.
We both time the signal and hit it.
He takes of under three fourth throttle (he claims)
I started a little under half due to tire hop issues inherent in our SS /SC's.
But once under grip I go full WOT as well as him. By the time we hit the Quarter mark I blew him by 5 or 6 car lengths. He couldn't believe it. The rest of the guys laughed and nodded their approvals at it. They knew who was going to win. I shook his hand for a good raced and everyone jumped in the cars real quick and left before cops showed up because one person went down the road while me and the other guy were staging.
And chances were he called the cops. Headed back to the friends house and had a good game of DnD.

i think dungeons and dragons trumps the ss s/c. he's a total dork regardless of the car he drives.

*edit: if he drove an enzo then i might forgive him for being a stage 2 DND loser

How are they dogs?! My eclipse is a dog. Those cars are lighter than yours...

If it was a N/A 2nd Gen RX-7...no competition. If it was a Turbo II 2nd Gen RX-7, good run. If it was a 3rd Gen RX-7...even better run.

13B & 13BREWs are not over rated man...takes little effort (more money though) to make them quick as ****. There are guys running 12s with the stock twin turbo setup on the 3rd gens with intercooler upgrades and fuel system upgrades. One of the simplest cars to make fast.

after this post written by the god of turbo knowledge.. i stand by my post. i said the RX-8's suck. period.
but the RX-7s aren't so bad. the 3rd gen is a beautiful car. i think the 3rd gen TT is a mid 13 second car stock.. right?

Depends on the driver.

I hate RX-8s too...they should have never made them n/a.

I plan to buy a 3rd Gen TT one day in the future when I'm more financially stable...I was trying to buy one before the Eclipse but couldn't get the loan for one.

They run anywhere from high 13s - low 14s (talking about the 3rd gens) depending on the driver.

People treat them like Corvettes...plain and simple. Not that they aren't reliable but they are just rare cars. Even in 93, 94 & 95, they were limited to single thousands and in 95 they made like 400 in total for the states. If you ever find a 95...it's RARE.

Reliability has to mainly do with the owner of the vehicle. There are guys who have exceeded 100,000 miles on them that are basically stock and don't abuse the car. Then there are guys who blow a Apex seal after 40,000 miles from constant abuse. The problem with the rotary is that is much more sensitive to heat than a piston engine. Another issue with the 3rd Gens is that from factory, Mazda gave them a bunch of flaws. A cooling system that is barely good enough. A intercooler system that is barely good enough. Their temperature gauge doesn't move till it's just about to overheat. Their pre-cat is known for clogging and if it does, tremendous heat will build up and there goes your motor. These are common known things to fix when you really start getting into them.

Never the less, rare and sexy cars and the rotary engine is ******* awesome. Rev the **** out of it and the stock TT setup, it's ******* hard to stay out of boost (I know, I drove one). Loudest stock BOV evar! lol.

That's how rare they are lol

Only 3 years they had the RX-7s in the states. Because of the OBDII being a standard, they stopped. All of them are OBDI standard. They continued them in Japan/Overseas till 2002 I believe.

Alright guys,
I couldn't get ahold of the RX-7 guy but talked to one of the guys who was their.
He says it's either a 84 or 85 RX-7 1.1L Twin Rotor. Not big on rotary engines so I don't know what that means.
He belives it's stock but not certain. I'll let you know when I talk to him.
