Shifting at 7k in first
Do any of you shift before 7k in first? I know my clutch slips like a mother when I take it 7k and then shift to second. Im sure I would gain more speed shifting a little earlier around 5500 or so vs having the clutch never grab all the way through second gear.

Thats way to high because:
1 Your tach is behind the engine in first gear, so if u hit 7k, mean u deff hit the fuel cutoff.
2. The gear is to low, first gear is (and dont you all yell at me for this) a waste of time. The sooner you can get out, the better. So i would suggest, once you can get WOT and see 5500-6k on your tach, power shift to 2nd.
Then have fun with the other gears

yeah you are right, dont really power shift from 1-2, but be agressive with the shifting...
A.K.A.... dont fully realese the throttle but dont keep it floored like a real power ****!!
then the other gears u can power shift! ;-) 2-3, 3-4, 4-5

powershifting = keeping it floored and quickly pressing the clutch and shifting, while never letting off the gas? OR not using the clutch and just ripping it into 2nd?
Just to clear things up so i dont "accidentally" ruin a tranny
If i'm not mistaken not using the clutch to upshift is just called rev-matching right?
Someone please correct me haha

I would never suggest shifting w/out clutch unless you really know what you are doing!!! NEVER
powershifting = keep it floored(or lightly lift.... but keep gas on) and quickly press the clutch and bring ure shifter in another gear.
To make it easier, you should start pulling on the shifter slightly before you engage the clutch,,, so when you have the clutch engaged, your shifter is ready for the next gear. It has to be done real fast in order to not hit rev/limiter.
Practice makes perfect ;-) have fun, when done right, its alot faster than conventional shifting

Sorry but one says upshifting, and one says downshifting for your rev matching?
I would suggest never shift without clutch.
And rev-matching yes... Thats when you downshift to another gear, and while your downshifting you give throttle to try to match the correct engine rpm to the gear. It takes away the sudden jerk on the trany = alot better for the tranny.

You can shift without pressing the clutch, but if i am not mistaken, in first gear you have to shift in the 3k range, way underpower for racing.
And please dont tell me your to lazy to press the clutch in regular driving to save that tranny?

ill argue with this and then i again i won't argue..
99.999% of people will never be able to shift as fast but then there is a small % of us like myself that do not powershift that can shift faster then powershifters can..i have had numerous people tell me including professional racers saying that i am insane when it comes to the speed inwhich i shift gears..
i personally will never powershift either way and i preach against it.. it might be slightly faster for most people but is it worth the damage you are causing your tranny? i think not.. id rather be a slower shifter and save .01 off my dial in then blow my ****... but to each his own
